Easy to set up, had one slight issue with the siren but a quick call to Yale Customer Services and they helped me sort out straight away
The alarm is excellent however the instructions are incorrect when your try and pair the siren , also to note the siren dorsnt appear in the APP. I called the yale help line and they sent me a new set of instructions via email thst worked first time.
Its half a day of frustration i didn't need .
On the whole pleased with purchase. Set up was easy until pairing the alarm unit with the sensors had to phone the help line to get instruction on how to do it, apparently some wording missed on the instructions. Also the wall attachment fixing holes on the alarm unit were not spaced to match the brick cement lines out by about 10mm.
Yale alarm system installed easily and works well with the app. Replaced an old Yale alarm so it was simple and works fine.
The alarm system has a number of issues:
INSTALL "YALE SMART LIVING ALARM APP". DO NOT USE "YALE HOME". Both of these apps are available on the Android app store, but Yale Home does not work with this alarm system.
The range of the wireless connections is limited. We live on a house with solid brick internal walls, where the range is limited to approx 5m. I use a wifi range extender, so that I could locate the hub a few meters from our broadband router. This seems to work well.
There seems to be a problem with the operation of the Yellow and Green LEDs on the Hub. It is sometimes possible to have a yellow indication, when there is no fault. This often clears when the system is armed. The green LED often does not work. I reported this to their helpline. They checked the the hub firmware was up to date, and said there was nothing more they could do to help.
Its annoying that the siren is not visible in the app.
There's no master reset on the hub, so its not possible to remove sensors once paired with the hub.
Its also difficult to fit the Door sensors on uPVC doors. I used a small block of wood to locate the magnet nearer the sensor.
Otherwise its a good system;-)
Had this to replace an older Yale alarm no longer supported due to change to phone lines going digital. The new keypad is not as comprehensive as the older alarms but works ok.
There is one big negative that potential purchasers need to be aware of. With the older alarms when being set or when walking in to deactivate the system there was an audible peep sound. With the new system the control box has to be located near your router. If this is not near your front door it is difficult or impossible to hear any sound (depending on the router location)
This means it is easy to forget to deactivate the system.
On the positive side the phone app works well and provides clear notification of the system status.
So overall a mixed bag. If your router is near the entry door then it a good system.
Good system which was reasonable to st up and install. I did need help from advice centre towards the end of the process but they were excellent talking me through it all on the phone.
Excellent product easy to use app based alarm system quality product.
Able to set and disarm from phone so easy. So wasy to install and use.
Great easy to use system to replace my last Yale alarm that relied on the phone line to alert me. I had to move to this system as I am now on fibre.
Setting up was very easy with the iPhone app. There is one slight negative with the instructions. There’s an error when adding the siren box to the app and system. I contacted Yale and was given new instructions which worked fine. Here they are for anyone who needs them -
“ Please follow the process below for the correct pairing procedure for linking the HSA siren to the hub. It's important to note that with this alarm system, the siren will not show in your list of accessories, which can make things more confusing.
• In the external siren, turn all the dip switches to off and turn the siren off
• Leave the siren off for 5 minutes
• After 5 minutes turn the siren on and it should chirp
• Then press and hold the learn button on the hub until the solid green LED turns to flashing green (usually within 5 seconds)
• Then press the learn button in the siren for 1 second and the siren should chirp
• Then press the learn button on the black hub for 1 second and the siren should chirp
• Then press the learn button in the siren for 1 second and the siren should chirp
• Then press and hold the learn button on the black hub until the flashing green LED turns back to solid green
• The siren is now linked to the system as a device you can mount it and test – please note it will not show in your device list as a connected device
Very easy click and collect and was the cheapest on the internet”
Simple installation, works well on Iphone or via control pad. I bought an extra PIR detector for another room and this linked up easily too. Highly recommended. I purchased a powered ethernet switch to connect to my router as it didn't have enough ports,
Had just moved and purchased as a quick install which I completed myself. The instructions are lacking in detail, but the Yale help line was first class, answered all queries clearly and supplied additional written instructions as required. System once installed has worked fine, easy to operate and remote access via phone app. would recommend as a cost effective install.
Once I had the right set of instructions and app it was ok. Don't start until you've got them, and maybe only attempt it when the help desk is open. The instructions in the box and old app don't work. Even then, it wasn't plain sailing though as when fitting the cover, I tripped the anti tamper spring and it sounded the alarm which gave me a shock and I dropped the cover and nearly fell of the ladder! The new instructions could be clearer still.
The app often can't find WiFi connection, so I suggest it needs updating also. Maybe that's why the app store gives it a low rating. The keypad is a useful back up.
Bought this to upgrade from previous Yale phone based system.
The good - app based, easy to control from phone, alerts coming through to phone with ability to act in real time.
The bad - the set up instructions that came in the box did not work for linking the big external alarm up; however instructions found on the Yale website for the 6300 model worked.
This alarm is solely app based so it doesn't have the capacity to call your phone as a way of alerting you to the alarm being tripped. It will send a notification so there's a chance this might be missed.
Bought this system as Yale is local with long history of security and quality. Simple to install with no unsightly difficult to route wires. Visible parts are well designed to blend with rooms without requiring any decoration repairs. System programming was straight forward provided the instructions were followed step by step in sequence. Results surpassed expectations with sensors working well and activation communication via phone reassuring. Ability to add to system will be useful if required. Peace of mind when leaving house can not be understated.
Does what it says on the box, have fitted a couple of these and no issues with them, and great you can expand the system, and its got two alarm boxes,
Good value system. I had an issue setting it up but the helpline was superb and got it sorted In minutes. Got the money I’d say it’s hard to beat.
The web app set up was long, took 3 hours but at least its working. The keypad doesn't seem to work even after an hour with the helpdesk. Would not recommend.
And will be returning for a refund.
Great alarm with good app and integration Alexa integration with no subscription cost. Works with existing HSA kit so can upgrade to an old system without buying a load more sensors. Only down side on its use is the sounder is very quiet on entry and exit.
Only 4 stars as the instructions are missing steps to link the siren when installing which made it a bit tricky and had to call support and sounder volume.
Great product, well packaged, good instructions. Easy to set up. Slight problem with pairing the siren but the help desk was extremely helpful.
