A **
Did the job well and fitted easily. Would have been nice if it had come with some self cutting screws. Client happy
Easy to install, I had to modify the opening for the lock gear box. But nothing major.
Did the Job, took about 10 minutes, good value for money, saved me buying a new door
But tricky to adjust but works a treat
Fitting the door side of the new lock to my 30 year old pvc door was mostly straightforward.
Examining the keep side, I noticed one of the grub screws was missing and the two tiny latch plate screws would turn but not unscrew. Gently levering them out, I found the threads were shallow or nearly non-existent. I called Yale and they said to return the product to Toolstation. At this stage, I‘d done a lot of work and the packaging was no longer perfect. After some reluctance, Yale agreed to send the small screws in the post.
The centre hook (bolt) had an unusual shape and travel. Some of the door frame needed to be cut away and, cutting through the plastic; I found a layer of metal. Drilling this away, I found the edges of more metal and cut them away with a small chisel. Marking the centre hook with ink and attempting to close the door, showed me where to do final cutting.
The instructions were reasonable but there was little about the function or adjustment of the rollers and mushroom rollers. To simplify the adjustment, I removed the two roller keeps and the two mushroom keeps. I then refitted and adjusted them one at a time.
In the end, the lock worked well and was noticeably smooth. However, as a first timer, I found the job challenging and, at times, frustrating.
This is a good quality product and generally easy to fit. I only had one issue in that the main latch does protrude 25mm so I need to cut the plastic and a bit of metal in the frame to accomodate a smooth lock. The mechanism is nice and smooth.
Installed ok but only 3/4 length of the door, so no latches where you would ideally want them
