The kitchen extractor was easy to fit and wire. It operates well and is quiet.
Good delivery of online order, no damage. Assembly instructions contain useless diagrams. If revised, sales could boost. Fan itself relies partly on 'click-together' assembly and to separate needs straining plastic almost to breaking-point. An experienced fitter was baffled stating pre-cut 200mm hole in double-glazed window was too small --Wrong! Once fitted, fan itself works well and is quiet.
An easy to mount and use, solution to extracting gases from my kiln.
The fact that the front grille is so difficult to remove and replace is the deal breaker (see Nemo2000, point 3). The grille on our old GXC6 could be removed with light finger pressure applied to 2 retaining buttons on either side. I can't chance this as a replacement. Having to apply that much pressure to a window pane when working at height is just too risky. I will be returning the unit. What was the designer thinking ... did they actually try installing the unit in a real life setting? Why change a working design? To save a few pennies in production costs?
I bought this to use as a 'drop in' replacement for an older version of the same model in my kitchen. A number of issues:-
1. The outlet hole in the wall had to be enlarged, though fortunately only for about the first inch or so.
2. The cable entry was in a different location, so the existing cable had to be removed and replaced by a longer length and re-routed in the wall.
3. The old model had a cover secured by a single easily-accessible large screw in the bottom. The new model requires sprung plastic 'tabs' on both sides to be depressed simultaneously. The tabs are very slim in narrow slots, so you need to depress them HARD with a 2p coin edge or similar. You need two hands to depress them both AND a third hand to then pull the cover off while keeping them depressed! And in my kitchen access to one 'tab' is hampered by adjacent pipework :-(
4. On the old model the shutters closed to form a smooth front which was easy to wipe clean. The new model hides the shutters behind a slatted grill, so neither slats nor grill can be cleaned easily.
5. The 'pull cord' is very thin and 'stretchy' - when you pull it and then let go it flies about all over the place.
The old model was robust and lasted at least 30 years before the motor finally expired. The new model seem very flimsy by comparison and I doubt that it will last anywhere near that length of time.
Excellent product. A little fiddly to assemble though.
Used these fans in kitchen and bathroom for 50 years...totally reliable
All good after exchanging original item
i bought this to replace a vortice which we had for over ten years which was easy to fit and easy to clean found the replacement very plastic and awkward to fit extremly noisy when running
Ordering easy and delivery fine. The extractor fan supplied was faulty and the return worked with a new fan delivered. All OK second time round.
