Saw this tool on YouTube and it looked like it would save time.
However, my coving has a more complex pattern than a straightforward concave and so would not attach to the edge of the coving. To hold it on and stop it moving around I had to use more pressure, which created divots in the material.
I also bought the small recommended saw and it grabbed too much, making the holding on problem even worse.
I think this works for a basic polystyrene coving, but not for the harder polymer with a pattern.
I went back to using my mitre chop saw with a fence attached - took longer to set up, but works much better. Plus, I can make multiple cuts to "creep up" on the exact length needed etc
You can’t go wrong with this tool. Simple to use.
Very good idea and worked well, wasn’t quite big enough so would be better to have different sizes
Very expensive, no instructions and doesn't follow the contours of the coving. Worst DIY gadget I have bought. Use a mitre box and a fine toothed hack saw and forget this tool. Spend some time working out the cuts and mark them left, right, interior corner, exterior corner and top or bottom to make the cuts repeatable.
It works! Mutch better then mitre box, easy to use, and jist works! Definitely recommend! Of and It's properly steel, durable not like plastic one.
Not wide enough! Check the size of the coving you need to cut as this tool is not very wide. It also looks like it doesn't work in profiled coving and produces a lot of waste offcut. Tool Station provided refund no problem.
Just the job, much better than a cheaper plastic alternative , i still did upside down cuts but at least the mitres were bang on.
This tool is hugely overpriced and absolute rubbish. It slips around and I found it impossible to achieve a clean straight mitre cut. I bought it because it said it was specifically designed for cutting coving. I resorted to my good old mitre block, with much better results. The instructions were feeble, and written on the outside of the box. Having looked at them, I still had no idea how to use it and had to resort to You Tube. Even then, I really struggled and eventually gave up. Toolstation were excellent and allowed me to return it and get my money back.
Purchased this coving cutting guide after watching a YouTube blog, I have in the past used a mitre box which I made and worked quite well, the big advantage with the Wondermite tool is that you can make small angle adjustments to cater for out of square walls, I feel Ltd expensive for what it is but non the less I’m pleased with my purchase and would recommend.
Excellent piece of kit did two rooms and not one piece of coving cut the wrong way or wasted
Easier than a mitre saw for coving. The angle comes out pretty much perfect.
Perfect tool to enable accurate angle cuts for internal & external corners when cutting coving.
Good quality cove mitre. Simple to use & gives accurate cuts.
A simple to understand and use aid to quickly and accurately cut internal and external angles without the hassle of a mitre block coving gymnastics.
So easy to use and if you haven't there are instructions on the box
Well made easy to use and a very reasonable prices
The best inventions are always the simple ones. This is simple and works really well. You just have to concentrate on the instructions for where the cut needs to be for internal versus external corners. This would be the same for any similar product though. It's a really good product.
Tried two mitre boxes before going in search of one of these, it is simple but does the job easily and it also makes working out the angles a lot easier.
It works. First time doing coving. Good cuts. No mistakes. No waste.
Simple, easy to use and effective. Exactly what you need when coving
