The window venting kit is designed for sash windows only. Ridiculous. If you have regular windows you won’t be able to use it unless you manage to find some other kit online that will fit, or make something yourself. Wish we had saved the money and just bought a Dyson fan instead.
A brilliant machine, cools down home within 45 mins
Great unit, very effective in my small garden office space. Put hose though wall properly to make most effective. Works perfectly and saved me in the heat. Heater also seems good so no more fan heaters this winter.
Bought this to cool the top floor of our house, but have de idea to use it down stairs and move the older one up. The cooling is great and the swing function really get the air moving. Some people have been critiquing the noise ... but this one is 10x quite than the other one we have and £200 cheaper! Great product, wold 100% recommend!
Easy to assemble, easy to operate and keeps living room dinner cool in hot weather. All set for next heatwave.
Only had it a couple of days but so far it's been ok.
Pretty pleased with this unit. Seems well built and effective. Hard to claim it's portable when the instructions require a fixed installation into a sliding window. No facility for more usual hinged windows at all. It is noisy but not as bad as other units and price is half that of units supplied by an on-line electrical site.
It does what the specification says, it is quite heavy to move up / down the stairs, so it stays in the bedroom. A little difficult to step up the hoses, depending on your window type. We had to makd something to suit ours. Not using now, but we are fully prepared for thd hot 2025.
Worked well for a few days then started loud vibrating noise. Had to take apart and wedge insulation inside to stop from happening. Other than that, kept us cool through summer.
Powerful but one major flaw. In air con mode it also acts as a dehumidifier but doesn’t send the water out of the exhaust, you have to drain it via the small tube on the back. On one hot day I left it on for a few hours with a 5 litre container to drain into and it overfilled it on to the floor. Other portable air cons I’ve used didn’t do this, the exhaust hose was enough to get rid of the moisture.
Not portable as needs to be vented outside to work.
Got to drill wall or vent through open window and supplied vent kit is only suitable for sash window.
Returned for refund
I’ve just bought this air conditioning unit, omg it’s fabulous, yes it’s quite big, but who cares as long as it does the job, and it does that in spades, no need to put it on early if you’re using it in the bedroom, it’ll bring that temperature down in about 5/10 minutes, what more can I say ? apart from, I should of got one years ago, get this one and you won’t be disappointed.
I found this to be a good air conditioner although it was a bit louder than expected. The specifications on the Toolstation website listed the noise lever as 54 dB(A) but I had not realised that dB(A) is different from dB, so I was surprised that it was quite loud but on the energy rating which came with the Air Conditioner it said noise level 64 dB. I could have returned it but decided to keep it, as it cools the room down nicely before going to bed.
Let down by tool staion i need air con ergent im disabled, didnt turn up didnt get a call, had to reorder wont get untill next week ill suffer for this tool station very unimpressed, and this has happened before with orered next day delivery no call to explain, u hv to chase them yr rival has also made mistakes but they offer discount vouchers to say sorry and call u. Disapointed i hope it actually turns up i checked its in stock ! john quinn
Having trawled the internet for a unit and came up trumps. Best value ac/ heat pump I could find. Unfortunately box came damaged and one of the hose adaptors damaged so waiting for replacement. Ran unit up after the recommended 6 hr wait time for gas to settle from transit. Icy cold in minute or two and cooled a good sized room down now problem. Hopefully will last
Much quieter than previous ones I’ve had. Efficient too, not putting my smart meter out of green. Seems to cool down the room well too.
This was a lot bigger than expected so check the measurements. It’s heavy too, it does have wheels but to move it when boxed I’d recommend two people but doable with one. It’s quite loud at times but I guess a small sacrifice if you want your room cool. It’s more a professional setup (I bought it for my flat) and the instructions are quite complicated to understand. I ran it for a few hours and it only used about 2/3kWh, so roughly about 1kWh per hour to run.
Got this last year to deal with the summer heat over night. Chills the room down quickly and keeps it cool during the night. It is a bit noisy but if you stick it at the bottom of your bed the noise is comparable to having a fan on a bedside table. Running from 10pm to 8am uses around 3kwh of electricity, but worth the cost for a good night's sleep. Make sure to drain every few days.
The window frame to seal the ventalation on the window was broken in transit toolstation have refused outright to replace it unless I carry the ridiculously heavy machine back downstairs back to Toolstation to replace a piece of plastic that could be sent in the post they refused to offer me any help other than take us to trading standards if your unhappy literally useless the ac machine is useless unless it can be vented in a sealed room so u less you have the need for an extremely heavy useless doorstop do not buy this as I can guarantee the part will be broken and you will have to make something yourself avoid toolstation at all costs the they’re untrained office staff are not even aware of the logistics and basic fittings of these machines beyond useless embarrassing on their behalf
Seems fine. Unpacked it and did a trial for a few minutes and it seems fine. I have now tucked it away for use as an air conditioner if the temperatures get to the same highs as last summer, when air conditioners were in short supply. The instructions take a bit of working through but seemed comprehensive. I am most likely to use this in a room where the window hinges at the top so plan to use the supplied window fix attachment with a sheet of transparent plastic above it to reduce the entry of warm air from outside getting in. Any way a very short test but seems fine.
