After being injured by a cheaper telescopic ladder that failed Trading Standards tests, I did some proper research and chose this Werner 2.9m model because it fully conforms to EN131-6 safety standards. The soft-close mechanism works brilliantly, and the visual tread lock indicators give real peace of mind when climbing. It does take a bit of strength to extend, but that’s simply down to the built-in safety features — and well worth it for the added security.
I've owned this ladder for about a year and used it on a DIY basis a couple of dozen times. Sadly, it is now almost impossible to use. I've searched high and low for any maintenance advice from Werner, but can find nothing on their website and this ladder is becoming harder and harder to extend. Day 1 I could do it one handed, but now on "day 24" I have to stand on the bottom rung and use both arms to get enough power to extend the lowest few rungs of the ladder. I keep it as clean as I can, and I do not use wd40, since I was told by someone that was a bad idea. Since werner themselves give no lubrication guidelines I can only assume they expect it to function without additional lubrication. Take it from me, however, you will eventually be disappointed.
brought these ladders for the first time three years ago, just like clock work I'm on my third set and these have now gone the same way, warranty has gone again, as the product gets two years even doesn't reset even when you get a brand new replacement,
Bought this ladder after seeing it used and discussing with plumber who uses one all the time.
Just the right height for loft access. Very stable.
Easy storage.
Safety locks click in and must be checked, however red and green colour blind cannot tell the difference. How about a yellow or blue?
