Has removed moisture from inside of windows in the mornings so must be functioning.
Installed this in a semi detached 2 bed bungalow that was suffering with condensation and getting surface mould in cold corners and behind things like sofas and cabinets on the joining was as the neighbouring property is empty.
Within days the condensation was gone! The humidity is right down and hopefully will prevent the return of mould! Unit is silent! Mounted on its legs (rather than hanging it) and no noise. Easy to install, wish I’d read about the benefits of PIV sooner!
We recently moved into a new property and as the weather dropped colder we noticed the windows were damp constantly and we were quickly building up mould in the reveals and on items of furniture. I decided to bite the bullet and invest in one of these and might I say moisture was stopped overnight. Initially it was freezing cold when you walked by it but after a few days I slowed the fan speed down to very low. It keeps the house damp free now no matter how low the temperature is and no wiping windows and mould on a daily basis. You can still feel a small draught underneath and at first it was a bit musty but that soon cleared but it's a small price to pay for the positives it gives. I 100% recommend buying if you suffer the same problems.
So i bought one of these miracle fixes for condensation in my 1930s house. Fitted it in November. Is now January and i can confirm that the landing it feeds into is absolutely freezing and I've even turned it down to setting 2 of 4. Window condensation especially in the morning is reduced. But i really can't say it's as good as I'd hoped for. Would i buy again? Probably not to be honest. May as well leave the windows open all the time.. would have the same effect including being cold. I guess common sense tells you this is what happens when you fit efficient sealed double glazing in a house designed to be draughty.. Toolstation service good as always, I've never had an issue.
Easy to assemble and simply wire into lighting circuit. Quiet running and does an excellent job ridding condensation.
I have a basement room with no window and found it difficult to get fresh air into this room. It always smelt musty. This unit which was easy to fit requires you cutting 8” holes for the ducting has fix this problem
I bought this fan for our domestic property.
Reason: I wanted to introduce supply air into our bathroom. We were having issues with excessive condensation and humidity levels in the morning showering period.
I opted for this fan in our case as I wanted to have the ability to balance air flow and control humidity of incoming air.
Considerations: This fan unit is designed for whole house ventilation. The instructions advise installation at the top of the upper floor stairwell, taking air from the loft space providing additional supply ventilation to the whole house.
We used it to provide higher air change rates in our bathroom. Adjustment of settings is important to ensure you are not introducing excessive amounts of cold air into your living space.
This is not a heating device, the heating elements is for humidity control only.
Summary: Nice quality fan unit and controller, the installation instructions are simple enough to follow and set up is simple. Plan out installation as the unit is fairly large for domestic ventilation.
