At first I thought it was faulty. After many attempts I found it was necessary to push both leads quite hard Ito their sockets. Then I got quite steady readings and I am very satisfied with the meter.
The device itself is well made and appears great. Regrettably, the cables were total rubbish with dodgy connections and completely unuseable, making the whole package a disaster. When looking closely, this appeared in other reviews to have happened a year ago to a number of other customers. Looking closer still, the box had clearly been opened and closed a number of times and the testing cables had been taken out and re-packaged without replacing the missing end caps. Could it be that this one item had been returned, then checked and sent back out with the same faulty cables as before? Returned within 4 hours and got a better device cheaper elsewhere after having my time wasted and needing to do a job urgently.
Like some other reviewers I had issues with a poor contact from the supplied leads. Even continuity was impossible to test as the slightest change in angle of the leads broke the connection.
I fixed this by using a flat head screwdriver to splay the crossed pins inside the leads so they make proper contact with the sockets on the meter.
Since doing this the meter works fine but it seems odd that there’s such poor quality control. The meter seems to work fine apart from this and the autosense feature is great and a big improvement on my old meter. Plus AAA batteries much easier to find than 9v blocks.
If you're looking for good features, reasonably quality build this is ideal as this has over and above features that the other cheaper and lesser models have
Cool features include backlit display, built in stand and also the probes are very sharp and pointy, so you can get into very tight areas
I use this to find a parasitic drain on a car and it work perfectly for this type of job
As for general ac, work, is it also okay.
Recommended over and above comparable LAP product
Handy tester. Im not a electrician but does all the testing i need & easy to use.
Superb little electrical tester. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this for the money.
Great quality item for the money, with a wide range of functions.
Never had an autoranging multimeter. BRILLIANT so much less hassle to use.
Would definitely recommend also get it from Toolstation
You get what you pay for, this meter is ok if don’t mind the readings being accurate.
not as good as it should be , or as expected .. .. bought to use with guitar amp building as my old one broke , I was in a rush and this was available to buy quickly local .. Overall it looks cheap , it takes a long time to settle to "0" and even then it drifts about ..
the testers which cam with have a tendency to work out and disconnect , I had to use some old ones I had , when making readings its takes longer than expected and doesnt seem to settle too well ..
for the money I expected better tbh .. I guess im going to have to buy a Fluke ..
I guess it would be ok for a few little one offs , but if your singing for something serious then I would look elsewhere ..
Was disappointed with the product as it was really hard to use. Wanted to measure battery voltage and fault find a 12v system but kept getting nonsense readings in millivolts. Trying to set the range didn’t seem to work consistently. Instructions unhelpful. Returned and got a cheaper model to manually select range and that one works well.
One of the best little testers I have ever used and I have had a lot
Has all the functions you'd expect for the price. Does all the basics well enough
A good little multimeter for the price. The stand is a tad flimsy, but I soon realised that I preferred using it without.
excellent for basic volt, resistance reading. cheap and it works
Easy to use, reasonable price, does the job. No issues.
I had to return the multimeter because the leads were loose when plugged in to the device, meaning it was impossible to rely on a reading. To be fair, the store was apologetic and gave me an immediate refund.
I have returned the item. The 1st time I tried it the connections on the multimeter were so loose that I couldn’t even get a continuity connection across the terminals unless I waggled the connection at the multimeter end.
Very disappointed. The meter was a poor quality build and did not work. Returned for a refund.
The meter works very well, although I had to return the 1st unit with a temperature reading error. At this point I encountered the most rude and unhelpful assistant I have ever had the misfortune to deal with, she would not exchange the unit for one I knew was in stock, she said she had to order one but she didn't and I had to go to store three days later to see what was happening, the supervisor was very apologetic saying she has done this before! so why is she still working there?. I will think twice before returning to Toolstation.
