Brilliant piece of kit makes life so much easier, the power is more than i expected very happy
The assembly took longer than expected but once assembled it has worked well. One point worth mentioning is that when the bleed grew is opened, make sure the end lies horizontal as when it is vertical it can be snapped by a log and damaged.
Bad start no communication from supplier as to when it will be delivered, nice chap who did deliver .
The machine instructions, gobblygook.
But when it was used couldn't fault it very robust machine ,very pleased withnit.
This is a well constructed machine and easily capable of my needs ( small woodland maintenance). If the logs you want to split are short ( say 8 in or less) then you'll need to put an extra one in to " pack it out". The guards are a sensible addition as some logs will " ping off" unexpectedly. The instructions are a bit tricky to follow and I'd recommend keeping the box as it has a great photo for reference. On bumpy ground it can be tricky to manoeuvre as the wheel track is narrow. I'd recommend putting it on a bench if you want to save your back. That said.... It just works!

Fantastic quality heavy duty log splitter. Don't be fooled by the make - Handy - this is brilliant heavy duty log splitter (weighs 60kg). We have a small woodland and needed a splitter for some large trees we had felled and to make kindling. This is a brilliant piece of equipment. Slowly pushes through all sizes of logs - i chose not to put the guard on (as i am a responsible adult :-) and it deals with very large tree trunks that have been cut down with a chain saw with ease. A brilliant purchase that was delivered within 48 hours.
Worked straight from the box, the ram return stop mechanism does not hold and the ram returns all the way back. Needs the hand turned bolt replacing with a conventional bolt that can be tightened with a spanner. The log splitter will be easier to use if placed on the optional stand or a purpose built stand.
Very impressive! This has split everything no matter hard or soft the wood. It’s easy to use and makes log splitting easy.
Used the logspitter for the 1 st time found very easy to use and a great help to split logs easily would recommend to anyone looking to buy a log splitter
Saves time and effort a Labour saving tool
A great log splitter, makes work very easy. However, set up instructions are hard to follow.
3 points to this review:
1- the log splitter is great, doesn't like hardwood too much (but the write up said that), saves me loads of time and back ache and we haven't fitted all the guards yet but I wear safety glasses.
2- the instructions are awful - common sense wins over eventually and process of elimination on the parts provided - hence only 4*
3- Toolstation PLEASE sort your delivery communications out. We had no notification of when it was being delivered - we happened to be at home the day after ordering and the driver called as he could not find our house (thank goodness he did or we would have had no idea it was on its way) - I wont downgrade any more because of the comms part as stated - the product itself is great.
I would recommend getting a stand for it. It can be back breaking having to bend down for long periods.
