Worked a treat on brick in an old house, made a lot more dust than I was expecting as it seems to grind through the brick. It makes a nice flat bottomed hole for the box to sit square. I also bought the square cutter to use in conjunction but that was a complete waste of money as it just kept coming loose - used a hand chisel to make the corners which made a good job.
Used in conjunction with the box sinker on a recent rewire, couldn't fault it for the money. Less than half the price of an arneg one. Just use some dust extraction if you use one as they create loads of dust.
Does what it says on the box just make sure you good exstraction
I found this to be a very useful cutting tool when cutting out for a socket. I didn’t have the mating part at the time to cut the square part out as I didn’t think I would need it but I went back out and bought one.
I made the mistake of cutting out a deep round hole for a deep box and when it came to cutting the square hole I had to guess the centre of the hole for the location bar.
So I would say it’s probably better to cut a little bit with each cutter to reach your desired depth.
It worked really well on the bricks.
Plug holer not used yet due to units not in place but looks the part very quick service fir click and collect
Excellent little timesaver which makes very neat cuts. I've used this to sink 20 back boxes into red brick walls and it still looks great. Absolutely flies through breeze and concrete blocks. Just let the cutter do the work and don't force it. Make sure you have dust extraction handy!
Great price - and great finish (less work too) v happy.
Cuts out for back boxes in common brick ok - not sure about life
Easy to order and collect good quality items too did a great job at the best price
Does what it is supposed to. Have only used it on regular brick so not sure what it is like on engineering brick. Best used with the box cutter (use the cutter first and then square the hole with the box cutter). You need to take out the small corner pieces of brick with a small chisel to complete the job. If using this on a single wall, be careful of how deep you need to drill the pilot hole. The pilot bar is around 30mm long (about the same of the box cutter) so depending on how deep you need the box to be, you might punch through the other side of the brick! Not the cheapest of accessories, but it does save having to chain drill and use a bolster.
100% buy this tool! Makes light work of adding sockets to walls! The time you save and the little mess it makes is fantastic!
Bought this for cutting holes into brick for back boxes. It chipped on the first use. It did not cut the brick either.
Good product and excellent service, fast and easy to use,
Not bad for cutting boxes in render, block and London brick. Drops a lot of dust so use with a Starrett silicon cone (designed for ceiling lights). I use fixing holes on back box as a guide for centering bit. Tbh forget the overpriced square box cutter, drill an 10mm in each corner and chisel out with sds. Bit bigger but fits everytime, first time. Easy.
This is the second one I have purchased as first one had a blade break after hitting a joint between brickwork in wall drilled around seven double sockets out in hard brickwork before it gave up the ghost but still saved a fair amount of time in drilling out. This done the trick. Only gave it four stars as I think this one may last the same but will see if it proves me wrong.
Cut through plaster no problem but managed about 2mm of brick in 10 minutes so I gave in. Ok for light weight blocks but not reccomend for anything else
Did last as long as this review took to do
The first bad thing I've get from them
