Good service from tool station and good card terminal would recommend it
Good price and a free £5 Costa voucher :) easy to setup and use. Comes with built in sim so good if no Wifi or device to pair with. Direct cost input or can be used with preset items you sell.
Once you have a SumUp account, these readers are very easy to setup and use. Will work with or without a mobile device, and also with or without WiFi as they have their own built in Sim so will connect to nearest mobile tower for free 4G connection. If fully charged, they will last all day without power (depending on your settings for the display on time etc.) uses standard USB C and comes with the cable but not the charger, so this will need to be purchased if you don’t already have one.
Once we had set up the App and got them working they were great. Would be good to have clearer instructions. I resorted to YouTube in the end.
Sounded like an ideal card machine but however much I tried I could not register it. Online support very poor. I will be returning this to Toolstation.
Very good, just the job needed a simple to use card reader that worked well on W-Fi. Disappointed the machine is not micro soft software compatible, you have to use the Sumup App an with apple iPhone. Otherwise would have given 5-stars.
It would be a great product if it worked properly. You have to forever keep powering it off and waiting for it to reload when using the mobile network - quite embarrassing when trying to take payment from customers!!! Works better on wifi networks but so would any payment machine. The reason I purchased it was to work on the mobile network so not a great purchase.
Sadly these devices are not 4g compatible. Since 3g will be switched off in a few weeks it was a complete waste of money. Probably OK if you have WiFi access but not in a remote location where a phone signal is required.
Thought this version would be ok to use over the other model/offer. Which should now help to move forward.
I've seen this product in operation and it seems to work really well. However, having purchased one for our Model Railway club to use, it has proved very difficult to register and open an account so we can take subscription fees etc. I began the process last week and kave still not received any confirmation!
Handy size and decent battery time. Quite good quality and easy to use.
Sumup are an awful company to deal with. They will freeze or terminate your account without warning.
Cheap and cheerful but they don’t last. I have had over 18 of these devices that we use for two functions events each year for charity. They sit in storage 363 days of the year. We turn them on and two have failed saying they’ve been disabled due to suspicious activity or been dropped which is clearly nonsense. We make quite a lot of money on these two days so can absorb the cost but I couldn’t recommend to small business who would rely on them.
Second handset bought for Library charity events as needs have increased.
The lady and the counter was very helpful.
Will definitely be using toolstation again
Handy little card reader with its own built in wifi. Compact. Reliable. Easy to use. Would recommend 👌
Works as expected but sometimes does an update at the most inopportune moments!!
I started off with a Square card reader which was cheap and worked OK, but the app wasn't very good. When I saw the SumUp app, everything changed. Being able to easily have all the items on screen, with images and inventory was great. Not only that, but you get a free online store that is all linked. I used the card reader for the first time this weekend and it was superb. Being able to have the card reader on the front of the stall, with the total pop up for the customer is great. Battery life seems to last for ages too and after a whole day trading, I still had about 70% battery.
The only reason it is 4 stars is I bought the Solo as it had a free cellular connection. I planned to use an old iPad for the app as it's a nicer size than a phone, but as soon as you connect to the card reader by bluetooth, you can't use the built in cellular. This means I can't use the iPad without having to tether to another device for connection.
Would I still buy the Solo? WIthout a doubt! SumUp seem to have everything I need and the business account helps keep track of everything.
worked well. better value than online sites and quick availability
Bought for a small associated group of retirees to facilitate taking payments for outings and monthly meetings lunches. Previously we took cash with all the extra work that entails. Since Covid, most members had got used to using credit cards everywhere, and and don't carry cash around now. So this was seen as an obvious step to take.
The Sum Up Solo was great value, very easy to set up and use and stand alone with its own built in data sim. We chose the option of no ongoing charges for network charges or service, so our low occasional monthly use means we only pay a small percentage on each transaction, as and when we use it. Which suits us perfectly.
