Clever little gadget but needs a bit of practice to get the gist of how it works. For the price it does a reasonable job.
Simple and effective. Found wooden studs well enabling IKEA cabinets to be hung on a stud wall without worrying they'd fall down.
Also seemed to find electrical cables (but wasn't drilling there!)
Blister packaging is tough so cut it open carefully so you don't damage the instruction card.
Tring to find underside of ceiling joists, gets easily confused by other services, sometimes its correct other time unsure, only way to be certain is to use a drill or nail. Probably worth paying more for a different detector
I bought this yesterday whilst fitting a kitchen. It couldn't find any cables in the wall, so I tested it on a live cable that was exposed and guess what... It didn't detect that either . Potentially a dangerous product and will be returning.
It works, kind of butbnot overly impressive when looking for studs
Inexpensive and effective at locating the studs in a recently-installed wall. Really can't fault it
Good product for the price haven’t used it for cable identification yet
Didn’t seem to work correctly at all. Moved very slowly over the ceiling but failed to find any of the joists. All in all, pretty useless.
I couldn't even detect a bare wire with this device, yet alone find a wire within a wall. A complete waste of money.
Useless, a waste of money. Don’t buy! Intermittent connectivity with batteries, unreliable readings which seemed to occur arbitrarily. One would expect a Stanley product to be a lot better than this. Returned to Toolstation who refunded me.
Built wall myself with c24 timber used 9mm plaster board never marked the joists purchased this even at a depth of 11-15mm can’t even pick up a wooden scaffold board
I’d rather use a Cadburys chocolate bar as it may be more useful. This failed to give a consistent result leaving uncertainty about the place to drill so returned it.
Very easy to insert butteries and use. Slim design also for handy storage.
It's pretty useless to be honest. Did the job in the end with a studpop which was much more reliable and sensitive, but likewise you could use any strong magnet like a cheap neodymium one and you'll get a better result than this stud finder. I should have returned it, but forgot in the heat of the job
Very pleased with this product. Mostly accurate. Does the job well
Good device, simple to use but not lacking functionality. Lightweight and easy to hold.
Didn't really work for me although studs had been covered by 50mm of insulation.
Very easy to use and set up. Accurate in its scanning on stud walls and was a much needed asset when hanging a tv. Overall a brilliant product and can't fault it.
Difficult to master, especially when dealing with a ceiling. I can see why some buyers simply gave up.
Very simple to use. Saved me from drilling through a wire
