You can be sure that the clowns who dreamed up the concept and subsequent site rules that mandate the use of these knives have never had the need to use one. Let alone had to use one repeatedly during a working day.
This is the singularly most frustrating tool I have ever had. I can almost get along with having to hold the blade push button during use, even though that isn't a comfortable hand position for me; but when the blade retracts without warning, that's downright dangerous.
Do not recommend.
The blade automatically retracks in and the knife is manufactured to a high standard
As others have stated, this is a self retracting knife, with an added safety feature where if the blade hyper extends, it will retract anyway, & is primarily designed for quick box cutting tasks, to see what I mean, open the blade as normal, gently pull on the blade, let go, it will shoot back inside, this is what it's meant to do. To re engage the blade, slide the guide back down, then up, it will work as usual, unless the blade is extended beyond the extra auto snap back feature, personally I like this feature, an extra level of protection, perfect for warehouse workers like myself. I will admit, that extra feature did catch me off guard the first time I used it, but it doesn't take much working out, & once you get used to it, which doesn't take long, you'll discover an excellent knife!

Total rubbish!! Don't waste your money on this tool, go for the unbranded four quid self retract instead.
The other review is misleading. This is a safety knife and is supposed to auto retract and not lock into place. It’s so you don’t potentially get injured by leaving a blade sticking out. It’s for short term or quick use such as opening boxes or cutting tape etc. maybe the description or title could be updated slightly but as far as quality of the knife goes it’s really good.
Bought this last week expecting a knife the auto blade feature is terrible on the blade as it just retracts back into handle when you let go shocking
