These 8 inch pipe grips are really good when they dont break !I've got 4 pairs and they are great for a whole range of smaller jobs but I have managed to break 2 pairs! One i broke by trying to undo a tight nut and to be honest I was swinging on them but the other pair the ratchet just didn't hold from the moment I bought them! But they are cheap and handy so I would buy them again for lighter work. And use my Rothenburgers for heavier stuff!
The slide locks easily, the jaws are sharp and will mark plumbing connectors badly. However that sharpness is very good for gripping bolt heads and studs in a car environment. Feel like quality and perform exceptionally well.
I bought these waterpump pilers to help in replacing a pop up sink waste spring mechanism. Mole grips wouldn' fit but these pliers were ideal. Compact, sturdy and well made, these will always be is the tool kit now for situations where space is tight.
