I needed to remove a rather large 2ft diam bamboo clump and this axe went through it in much less time than I was expecting. Good weight, but it will exercise muscles you didn't know you had. The grip is a tad on the small size for me but I just might have big hands. The grp handle helps absorb the blows and the axe appeared to keep its edge well. I just used a file to gently restore the blade after I'd hit a few stones embedded in the bamboo clump. Best £40 I've spent on a tool in a long time :)

Excellent tool. Sharp when bought. I’ll see how easy it is to resharpen it.
After using many chainsaw chains to try and get a tree stump to below ground level I decided to buy this. Wish I had brought the thing last year. It made mincemeat of the stump and easier than I thought all be it still a good workout!
5 lb is a good weight for tackling large root boles of shrubs which we volunteers need to dig out in our local park. Used to sever roots as well as chopping branches. Fairly sharp when purchased but sharpened it with carborundum stone anyway.
Nice heavy axe! It cut through some tree stumps with ease.
Read reviews before buying and there was some doubt over sharpness. I tried lightly dragging my finger across the blade and it was sharper at the edges than across the centre. It was protected with a rubber stretchable guard and a waxy coating. I am not an experienced “axe man” so I can bounce off the edge instead of hitting the centre and do not know if axes should be as sharp as knives. I can say that with this axe I had no trouble splitting the logs if I hit them properly.

Good weight and grip, does what you need for a low cost. The reason for 3 stars is that the handle does not dissipate a lot of the impact energy and your hands take a beating during use.
My old axe finally came to an end after many years of splitting.
Found this axe after browsing around abit, Toolstation delivered this fast , and I was able to get back to finishing the bulk of logs I was splitting. The ace is perfectly weighted , and feels rugged and sturdy, and has such a fine crisp blade for make a first time split .
Would highly recommend this, and especially for the price you can’t go wrong!
Will shop at Toolstation again for tools in the future :)
