If you're cutting plastic waste pipe, this is the tool
Far too expensive for a bit of plastic with a blade sticking out of it and you need to have a fair grip on 40mm pipe but it does what it's supposed to do, nice clean straight cuts but doesn't come with a spare blade. I haven't taken it apart to see if its bladed the outer end yet but if you're out on a job and the blade snaps it could be an issue. So if you're good with a hacksaw dont waste your money.
A simple to use product that performs very well leaving clean edges. A lot better than the cheaper shear action cutters. It does not perform cosistently when taking cuts close to the end of pipes tends to wander off, need to use a gentler prrssure and not force cut. Generally an excellent tool so much easier than using a hack saw.
I found it compact and easy to use. Although, I needed a good grip on it and the plastic pipe to be cut. I used it to install a 40mm shower waste pipe under a bedroom floor. There were a couple of 45 degree angles and a straight joiner to adapt the pipe run. The cutter gave a nice clean straight cut. I recommend the Rothenberger pipe cutter.
This cutter failed to make a straight cut on 32mm waste pipe. It does not close around the pipe and there is no ratchet mechanism to aid with this, trying to keep it closed while turning the pipe you are cutting takes excessive force. Cuts end up spiralling down the pipe. Buy an OX PolyZip instead.
The cutter does not close around the pipe and requires constant pressure, despite which it still spirals around the pipe making a mess of the cut.
Absolutely brilliant, easy to use and can cut 32mm and 40mm waste pipes
Perfect cuts every time. Saves so much time, worth every penny.
A bit tough to get started and suspect that this will get worse as the blade dulls. Not always a perfect start and finish but infinitively better than a saw and no rough edges!
Great little product easy to use and a perfect cut pipe, even comes with a spare blade. A great addition to have in your toolbox.
Really good simple pipe cutter that leaves very clean cuts and nice and straight too.
Great to have the option of the 11/4 and 11/2 together ovs saves space in the toolbag. The individual cutters are better tho
This is a great tool for cutting both 40mm and 32mm plastic waste pipes. It cuts cleanly gives a true straight edge to the pipe easy watertight joints. A very useful and handy tool.
Fantastic bit of kit highly recommend making the job so many easier
I bought this specifically for solvent waste pipe. Unfortunately each and every cut flares the end out slightly so that the pipe doesn’t freely push into a socket properly. It’s a shame really as it’s a handy tool. If you’re a plumber then don’t waste your money. Go for the Knipex DP50 instead. It’s a lot of money but it actually chamfers the end of the pipe as it cuts. Just a small chamfer. Awesome tool.
Quite high resistance at start of cut- so if you can’t really get a good grip and space is tight can be tricky
The description says it cuts any Plastic pipe, not in my experience. Ok on poly/pvc type (push or compression fit), but def not on solvent weld type pipe. Therefore the description is inaccurate and misleading.
I can’t believe I didn’t invest in a tool like this before. It cuts well, although I experienced some difficulties cutting waste pipe that was existing.
I used this tool to cut the basin waste pipe a little shorter after installing a new basin waste plug which left too much pipe to be connected up. This did the job and now the pipe work can connect properly. No more leaks!
