This did not achieve the goal - the rat simply worked out how to jog it and set it off before getting into it. I ended up buying the wire rat cage Product code: 20682. That was more expensive but worked and I can have an undisturbed sleep at night now.

Bait Fix Required: The included blue attractant is poorly secured and falls out easily. Recommendation: Secure the attractant (or replace it entirely) by gluing it in place with microwaved chocolate, which acts as a dual adhesive and highly effective lure.
Humane Setup: Absolute adherence to instructions is essential. For a humane, instant dispatch, the trap must be positioned to ensure the rat approaches directly from the front. Improper approach will compromise effectiveness.
It hasn’t despatched any rats yet but expect it to be an effective trap for several uses. (No use for a plague)
Strong well made trap, I also had some great advise from staff member of what is a good bait bait. Great service, great staff.
Not familiar with traps and found pictures on box inadequate. Used AI to find out how to use. With a strong snap its not a product to trial and error. It kills rats; mishandled it will damage fingers. Good product, but someone with no experience will need to research use online. Both how to use lever settings and how to put to best use. At price, an enclosed leaflet of basic instructions would have added value.
Did the job, caught one. Leave the trap in the box and cut a hole in it, that’s how we caught it.

I handled the trap with gloves as I've read that human scent puts off rats. I also added a small amount of muesli on top of the pre-bait

Product look strong and robust. Unfortunately the rat has no interest in it. Won’t take the bait, have changed the bait but no joy. However the trap looks like it will do the job when the pesky pest decides to step on it.
