Overall I think these are pretty much what I deserve for the relatively low price. I’ve put them on some windows that we open very infrequently and they look fine for that. They do have a few shortcomings though:
I had to exchange one of these because there weren’t enough screws provided. Then I had to return another because one of the screws had no slot cut in the head. As it turned out the screw heads are so soft and badly formed that I bought some black number six 3/4 pozi screws instead. When I eventually have to repaint the casements I think the original screws would have been a pain to get out.
The stays aren’t the same as the photo on the Toolstation website. That shows a plain matt finish whereas what you’re supplied has a hammered appearance and it’s not quite matt. I’ll add a photo.
They don’t work brilliantly for those little top-hinged windows - there’s not enough slack in the stay fitting over the pin when the stay is at an angle. Just about works though.
As another reviewer has mentioned, they do rattle a bit in the breeze if the window is open.
It took me quite a bit of trial and error to fit these well - no two stays seemed exactly the same in terms of where the pins should be placed to get a good fit.
There isn’t the option of a locking pin. I painted a generic one with Hammerite and it looks ok from a distance.
Overall though, they’re ok for the price.
It’s fine but the first hole is slightly oval which means the window rattled if only just cracked open. Possibly because the spigots are parallel sided rather than tapered and it might make stowing the latch over both spigots difficult. So it’s great unless you want to be able to sleep on a windy night with the window cracked open!
Great service thank you for your assistance finding the right window stay
