Here's what I use these Staples for: I had bought a pair of leather slippers on holiday in Greece and they were a little bit loose on my feet; so I bought some insoles, cut them to size, then found that the insoles would wander one way or the other inside the slippers, usually forward out the front or rearward out the back.
So, using my nail gun, I shot four Staples into the rear and one staple into the front; the thicker heel part taking all parts of each Staple, so that non penetrated through the bottom, whereas the one through the front did come right through, so I cut a slit into the sole and I bent the projecting part of the staple into it. It's still works well and my slippers do not fall off.
