Worked very well with direct blow torch soldering heat.
The mat has very bad stitching around the edge - loose and missing. This is causing the edges to fray before it's even been used. I needed it urgently for a job, otherwise I would have returned it straight away. I can't see this lasting long. Avoid this one.

Well made and good quality, although it starts to burn after a few uses. I don’t think it will last as long as my previous asbestos mat.

Ive been advised to use cooling gel with this mat as it will burn.
Great for soldering, only downfall is the stitching on the edges are not fire proof, they catch light when first used but been fine since. Much better than the Rothenberger mat I used previously.

This is a must have for plumbing, reduces the likelihood of setting fire to surrounding materials when soldering joints.

Totally useless, used to protect a skirting board when soldering copper pipe, when I removed the mat there was scorch marks behind the mat

Bough this to do some welding on the car and I wanted the heat mat as protection for equipment behind the weld are. it dit a good job and worked as expected.
Didnt set fire to my house , so defo does the job .
Only way to "improve" this item would be a slit to enable it to wrap around pipes etc .
