Spent a little more on this MK cooker unit and it has saved me a lot of grief. Our oven plugs into the 13A outlet and on the previous unit this was causing intermittent problems with the oven switching off. This non metal unit has never failed, thank you MK for quality.
Does exactly what it says on box, switches on and off!
It’s worth paying a bit more for a MK switch their quality.
Excellent quality, customer extremely happy product
Expensive but very good quality - as always with MK gear. Installing all MK can get expensive but as I was only installing a single cooker socket, it was worth the extra expense to fit a high quality one. Plastic isn’t brittle and looks as if it will last and connectors are typically high quality, as you’d expect from MK.
MK ghe best always....and a good deal at Toolstation
Easy enough to fit, and the only one I’ve seen with cooker written on the back to save getting confused with the usual supply and load. Regrettably, mine had a problem with the socket part, as it requires considerable force to put a plug in. If I’d tried before fitting, I might have taken it back, but couldn’t be bothered with the faff of wrestling with the cables again. Didn’t use the socket before, so I won’t now. Disappointing though, as it wasn’t cheap.
Great service as always from the friendly staff at Toolstation - I was able to compare the size of this new part to the old one to ensure it would fit. Far better than buying over the internet!
Good quality product from a well known brand.no indicator light for on,with modern cookers/hobs they are normally on 24/7.I normally fix these in an adjacent kitchen unit (must be accessible) for isolating in an emergency. The terminals have a solid feel when tightening.recommend a deep surface mounted box for a bit of room with the 6-10mm cables
Great quality as usual as it is there for a long time worth the bit extra price
Always Good quality in future will keep purchases the NJ products
I bought this to replace a cheap unit installed by kitchen fitter. This matches my MK Logic sockets and switches are smoother and more positive than the old one. I hope this lasts as well as my previous fitted MK sockets-no failures after 40 years !
Cooker switch matched the white sockets along wall.
Nice unit compact and good quality
I tend to use MK branded sockets, switches and face plates due to the length of service they give. Over the years I have fitted many brands of socket outlet, all of which have failed for various reasons within a 1 to 5 year period. Some of the reoccurring reasons for failure are spread contact prongs, corrosion and failed rivet or spot-weld joints.
Since using this particular range of products; the MK Logic range; I have experienced a dramatic decline in failure rates and an increased lifespan of the product. In my experience, these products seem to last a minimum of 10 years even in harsh environments such as a kitchen. They are also tough and durable, ideal for heavy use areas like the kitchen.
MK products can be slightly more expensive than other some other brands, but they are worth the investment. When I initially started using them, I replaced only kitchen face plates with MK and used cheaper brands elsewhere. However these days I use MK face plates exclusively.
These products are easy to connect, have a good strong clamping mechanism for the electrical wiring and the earth bond extends to the face plate screw holes (very handy for those metal boxes that don't have an earth bond fitted). The only negative I could suggest is that the screws supplied with the face plates can sometimes be a little too shorty for certain jobs, usually sunk metal boxes in brick or block work. No issues if you're using dry wall boxes. But then, I always carry a pack of 40mm M3.5 screws in my organiser, as would any electrician worth their salt, so it's never really an issue.
I hope this review helps those considering an upgrade to MK from cheaper brands. I have found some Crabtree products to be very good as well, not to seem biased, but generally find MK to be more widely available.
Stay Safe!
Does the job and looks smart.
