This product is 140mm wide external width, not internal. You would not be able to cut anything much wider than 100mm. Product returned and went elsewhere.
As a mitre box this is a good product. Only bought it to enable 90 deg cuts as had other plans for the actual coving mitres. I'm sure this will be a handy tool to have around.
The box is sturdy and the slots hold the saw just fine.
Very useful for cutting coving but the plastic is very soft so it did get a bit worn by the sawing action
Could do with cutting instructions as on other products
Great item very useful for small jobs highly recommend
Wonderful item. Doing its job. Light and easy to operate. Durable.
Nice little mitre box. Took it to Kenya for some work in my flat there. Worked well, mitres were spot on. Cheap and cheerful, handy when you can't take your chop saw.
Fine for the price and for what I needed it for - cutting Scotia beading. As others have said, you have to be careful not to cut into the block itself as it is quite lightweight plastic.
I bought this mitre box to install coving. It turned out to be too shallow to work. It would probably be okay if just cutting dado rail or architrave but no good for me in hindsight
My first impression was that this was quite a flimsy product. I expected the plastic to have been solid not hollow. There are places to screw it down to a base which would definitely help with stability and clamping in a vice etc. That said I did not bother and got the job done. It is designed for quite large sections like skirting board, so I couldn't use my smallest dovetail saw as the backing hit the plastic, but my tenon saw was OK, although I could only use a very short stroke. It looks like it is intended for larger panel saws. If you are looking to cut small items like picture frames or scotia, I would look for a smaller product.
Not very robust, I used this device for cutting dado rail, as I was cutting the dado rail I noticed on each cut the plastic body was also being cut and mixing with the sawdust.
I used the finest saw I could get, when looking at the mitre block I could see the cut was also cutting into plastic body.
It was ok for the job I was doing, but this is a one use item and then recycle once used.
It was cheap, so what can you expect.
Used for cutting pipe insulation but lots of other possibilities. There is a lip along one edge which is great to hold it against the corner of a bench etc.
Great product worked well. Really sturdy mitre box
Solid little unit, cheap and done the job well no problems
Great value for money. Helped me achieve a great finnish to my door frame
Cheap but very basic mitre block, adequate for basic cuts with care but wide or hardwood timber would require a far better unit
Solid-looking replacement for similar older one (which is showing signs of wear). Not yet used, but will no doubt wear with use - it's only plastic!
Excellent piece of kit for cutting perfect mitre and straight cuts
Simple but effective mitre box. Rigid (you want this), unlike a famous brand that makes hand tools. The rigidity gives good results for a plastic mitre box. Best used with the supplied saw. Gives a god finish if you work slowly, letting the saw cut and not forcing the blade in a hurry. Low cost but good enough for most jobs. Iny toolbox now. 😊
Excellent little piece of kit for cutting straight lines
