Bought this to put a simple down light at front door for elderly father who did not want visitors falling on steps and a pir sensor light would not have worked very well in this situation due to the line of sight for the sensor. The photo cell sensor (dusk to dawn works great and was very easy to fit with full instructions, this was paired with a led low wattage light fitting so very cheap to run too. Very good price and I would definitely recommend for any situation where an all night light is called for.

Mounted inside weatherproof box to control outside floodlight. Very easy to install, you'll need a 16mm hole saw or step cutter. A bit unsure about the IP rating (IP20) but the weatherproof box will provide additional protection and the location of installation means there is some shelter from the weather.
Fitted to replace different model. All good so far.
che pec that required replacing was 20mm this one from Toolstation is 16mm,had to pack it out with washers to make it weatherproof. Still a good buy, switches on later and off earlier .energy saver

Replacement for old sensor. Easy to fit and works well
Bit fiddly to wire up. Used it to switch on a porch light from dawn to dusk. Needs to be placed outside, and away from the light it's controlling. Needs to be fitted into a weatherproof junction box.
Main problem was the light wasn't triggered until it was quite dark, typically around the time the street lights came on. Normally that's ok but my porch is shaded so needed it to come on earlier. Got around this by using a small, 5 mm, hole on the grommet that covered the sensor but took a bit of trial and error.
All working now and saves me remembering to switch the light on and off every day, and great to have it come on when away on holiday.
Great little device. When fitted in a small black adaptable box looks a lot neater than the old photocell that it replaced.
Love these things for a small discreet place. I put them in the lids of boxes. Used a few now and never any bother.

Fitted one of these 4year ago.To control the door up/down lighters and security lights.The amount of electric it saved paid for it.But after 4 year it stopped working,being on all the time.So if it lasts as long will be happy.
