A great diamond tip tool For cutting holes in porcelain tiles. I’m no expert but it did the job brilliantly!
Wasn't looking forward to drilling holes in newly fitted porcelain tiles, but I have to say this was an excellent piece of kit. With the angle grinder's high speed and holding the guard with the left hand, there was no tendency for the bit to slip. Make sure you've marked clear lines to the intended hole centre beforehand - so you can check how accurate your positioning is. I got around 20 holes from my first bit before it quite suddenly stopped working. Don't expect to do the last couple of holes with a bit you know is about done!
Much better than I thought. I needed to drill into 20mm hard porcelain tiles and it did the job very well. Just a little tip, just pre-drill with a normal masonry bit about 1mm you will find it so much easier to control and make sure that you cool with a little water and you will find that it cuts so much better. Would definitely recommend.
Bought these as fed up of using the marcrist ones. Thought they can't be any worse. What an amazing tool. Fits directly on to cordless grinder and smooth as butter through porcelain tiles. You have to take it easy and not put too much weight on but I drilled 12 holes with a 6mm bit before the diamond tip wore out..... approx 1 minute a hole. Don't hesitate to buy these if you drill a y sort of tile. You will be surprised. As for the reviewers struggling with the middle core, I personally didn't have a problem. It does snag a little but you can just snap the core with a small screwdriver or similar and it will keep going. As for the price... for what it is its cheaper and better than the competition.
For years, any time I've had to drill porcelain tile, I've fought with the similar diamond bits that go in a drill, if I don't burn them out on one hole it was a battle to get through them. Finally gave in and tried a grinder bit and what a difference. Drills through like butter, accurate clean holes. Drilled a good dozen in a row and dipped in water after each one, not a single sign of wear on the bit!
