Poor quality, very hard to thread. Impossible to get the joint to stay watertight.
It's challenging to thread a tap into this wall plate. I thought it was my lack of skill until I read the other reviews. Thanks to Andy SME for his suggestion of boiling water poured over the threads, and ptfe tape on the tap, I did get it working.
Threads to tap were not compatible and cross threaded. Didn’t return item but bought replacement from a well known online retailer who delivered next day.
Terrible quality product, threads instantly stripped
Won't take half brass bush without destroying the plastic thread, so effectively a one-time use fitting.
After reading the reviews of this product I was wary of the issues reported about the threads, and any material mismatch (brass to MDPE) is bound to cause issues. I tried the threads very carefully with one of my BIB taps and could see immediately what people were talking about - the thread would not start, and if you did get it to bite it seemed to cross thread immediately. Taking into account the prevous reviewers comments about heating the MDPE wall plate I applies PTFE tape to the tap threads and put the kettle on to boil. Holding the wall plate carefully I slowly poured boiling water into the threaded socket for a minute before then offering up the tap. with care to get keep the wall plate and tap square to each other I got the two threads engaged and once started they screwed together nicely. I screwed the tap in until just one thread remained and then straightened the tap in the wall plate before the mdpe cooled down. Once cooled, the tap is firmly held in position with the contraction of the mdpe and the wall plate is ready for mounting - obviously you could mount the wall plate, and use a heat gun to warm the MDPE carefully as the tap could get in the way of the top screw, but I was happier to fit the taps first and then mount the wall plate afterwards - either way, heating the wall plate and using PTFE tape makes the job of assembly much easier and using these with the low price is justified for the small amount of care required during assembly.
Cross threaded. Poor quality
Complete useless cheap plastic
Stripped threads very easily- took a chance on cheap component- didn’t work.
High quality for cheap price
Cheapest I found and has not issues. Does what it says it does
As everyone else is saying, the thread on this item is terrible. After a lot of effort with the tap (also supplied by Toolstation) basically cutting its own thread into the plastic, I got the tap to fit. Remains to be seen if it leaks or not. I bought three of these & one was OK, the others not. Why doesn't Toolstation remove these poor items?
As with previous reviews the threads are difficult to engage properly but with much care and warming the threads of the wall plate and the tap with hot water from a kettle I managed.
Thread s awful! tap will not screw in at all so returning
It screwed in the first time but then it leaked. I then put some PTFE tape but it still leaked because the screw thread was not deep enough. ( I think it was produced in Wales- geddit!) I took it back, with no fuss and bought a JG Speedfit. Twice the price but took me less than five minutes to fit it and no leaks and gave me longer for lunch. I am not a plumber as the wife will tell you.
Plastic thread, cross threaded when trying to connect brass out door tap. Returned
