Moved into new house which had onsuite shower / toilet. Well bodge the builder didnt fit a valve so flushing the toilet resulted in the usual gurgling. So after some pipe reworking the valve was added to the pipe network hidden within the box panelling at the optimum height above the lowest feed point. Job done bodge the builders efforts defeated.
The air valve on my enclosed 20 year old toilet died, making the room smelly. I replaced it with this McAlpine valve - which was as bad as the failed 20 year old valve: hopeless and not worth the money. After a careful search and reading reviews I found one for four times as much which works perfectly, and goes to prove that if you don't pay for quality you don't get quality.
Good quality, simple design, effortlessly installed.
Had a relatively long waste run from the bath with an almost vertical drop for a couple of metres so knew that I would have trouble if I didn't fit an AAV. This was easy to install and being a compression fit can be easily replaced in future should that be necessary.

Nothing wrong with the product, just me... I was hoping to fit to a 40mm Solvent Weld Access Plug, but it didn't find.

The thing works a treat, however it’s pretty noisy, even though it’s boxed in, you can still hear the thing doing its job of admitting air!
As long as you understand the purpose of this item and have the appropriate location to ensure its function, with modification to the waste pipe, it is straight forward to fit. Will help alleviate nasty odours from sink trap due to siphoning of the water seal. Reasonable price.

Very noisy from day one and now seems to stick open so it was getting a bit smelly in the bathroom. Looks like it's just a faulty unit as I also have 2 grey ones which are fine. Being returned.
