It leaks and it’s the second one to leak. Apparently it was seated wrong however it didn’t leak when first fitted and the second one has been perfectly aligned and yet it still leaks.
The machining, finish, gaskets etc are all worth it being a little more expensive than the other units for sale. You'll be done in 3 minutes with a perfect seal.
Nice design, very shallow (short projection), click clack is a clever self contained part of the waste. Fitted leak free, the quality appears satisfactory, although the top part of the fitting does feel cheap. Overall, recommend, used as a slotted fit, expensive, but if you are tight on space for a trap fit (used in conjunction with a ‘water free’ trap), this certainly allows for good flexibility.
Great item a little over priced but all good easy to fit
This is the first click-clack plug I’ve used that actually seals the plug and retains water in the basin for any length of time. Add that to a very simple installation and I am very pleased with the purchase.
The centre spindle top-tightening system works perfectly. Combined with the included rubber gasket it avoids the need for putty (or worse, masses of silicone) to get a watertight seal underneath. I was initially dubious about the foam washer sealing the top, but so far no leaks and it holds water in the sink.
The pop mechanism being built into the top cap is a great design. The whole unit pulls out as one, making it impossible to ever jam shut (which is what happened to my old pop-up waste).
The thread below the sink is obviously shorter than other wastes. I already had a telescopic extender on my waste pipe and needed around 2" extra, so factor that in.
My only minor issue is when open, the pop up part doesn't sit very snug, so the top tends to lean off-verticle. Just a little OCD triggering.
Had to return is it was far too short and the bottle trap couldn't seal onto it. Strange design, nothing like the existing or the replacement.
Quality pop up waste. very easy to install. works perfectly
This waste is unusual: the top and bottom are held together by a central threaded spindle that's turned to pull them together and to compress the two seals. This avoid having to turn the traditional very large nut on the bottom section to make a seal on the bottom of the basin, which never seems to work well for me. A side effect of this construction is that the bottom section has the bottom seal on the basin and the threaded seal for the trap at its ends, so the distance between them is fixed. In other words, the trap seal is always the same distance from the bottom of the basin, regardless of the thickness of the basin. I was struggling to find a replacement for an old waste that's shorter than those now on sale and this solved my problem. The click waste is simply a push-fit into the central spindle so it can easily be removed and replaced without tools. My only concern is that the shaft for the click waste is plastic where it goes into the spindle so it remains to be seen how tough it is. The only other thing of note is that when the click waste is sealed (in the down position) it still protrudes significantly from the floor of the bowl. This makes it easy to get hold of (if the mechanism jams, for instance) but does mean you could catch it by mistake when using the basin.
All in all this is a brilliant innovative product that eliminates several of the common difficulties I've experienced with trying to fit basin wastes.
Very easy straight swap for the existing waste went together well and no leaks so that’s good isn’t it! easy to clean as centre section just pulls out instead of unscrewing. would definitely buy again. Most of my traps and waste parts are McAlpine anyway I do rate these products. To early to rate the reliability of it though.
Good quality but couldn’t stop it leaking. Purchased the cheaper made4trade one fitted with no problems.
I like the way it can be used with either type of sink. The quality seals mean you can fit it without any silicone. It is short so you may want to buy a 1 1/4 inch McAlpine extension if retro-fitting it.
Good quality product, well made will last , not like done others. Will buy again.
Perfect replacement for burst pipe and excellent value
Great product and at a great price. Works a treat and works a lot better than the original one installed which was considerably more expensive.
Very clever design means the same unit can be used for basins with or without an internal overflow so you don't need to buy either slotted or unslotted; just use the supplied spacer if you need it. Also really easy to clean as the whole centre section just lifts out. A bit more expensive than some but well worth the extra.
Fantastic product. Decent quality and clever design. Short length for those tight basin units.
Old lock ring broken. Follow the manufacturer instructions and not the ones on YouTube as you don’t need silicone. Fitted 2 weeks ago and works great no leaks
This basin waste has a good solid feel, well worth the slightly higher price.
Well made and super easy to fit. Better still, it's made in the UK.
