The Kew Gardens Ratchet Anvil Secateurs are professional pruning tools designed for cutting harder, thicker branches up to 20mm diameter. Developed through a collaboration between Spear & Jackson, one of Britain's oldest tool manufacturers, and the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, these secateurs combine horticultural expertise with proven engineering quality. Part of the Razorsharp series, these anvil secateurs feature a ratchet mechanism that enables pruning in four manageable steps, significantly reducing hand fatigue when tackling demanding cutting tasks. The high carbon steel blades deliver lasting sharpness and are PTFE coated for resistance to rust and humidity, making them suitable for year-round garden maintenance in British weather conditions. The lightweight aluminium alloy handles incorporate non-slip comfort grips for secure handling, whilst the metal anvils provide optimum strength and performance during repeated use. A metal locking catch ensures safe storage between tasks, making these secateurs ideal for professional gardeners, landscapers, and serious gardening enthusiasts working with mature shrubs, roses, and ornamental trees.
