The Kew Gardens Large Metal Handle Bypass Secateurs are professional-grade cutting tools designed for precise pruning of living stems and green wood. Produced by Spear & Jackson in collaboration with the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, these secateurs combine horticultural expertise with British manufacturing heritage to deliver reliable performance in the garden. The bypass cutting action operates like scissors, with two sharp blades passing each other to create a clean cut that minimises bruising to tender plant tissue. This makes them particularly suitable for pruning roses, shrubs, and other ornamental plants where a precise, clean cut promotes healthy regrowth. The high carbon steel blades maintain their sharpness over extended use, whilst the soft feel handles provide comfortable grip during prolonged pruning sessions. With a maximum cutting capacity of 20mm diameter, these secateurs are ideal for general garden maintenance throughout the growing season. The integrated locking catch secures the blades closed when not in use, providing safer storage in pockets, tool belts, or garden caddies. Features and Benefits: • High carbon steel blades for strength and lasting sharpness • Soft feel handles for increased comfort during extended use • Locking catch for safer carrying and storage • Bypass cutting action minimises bruising to tender green stems • Collaboration between Kew Gardens horticultural experts and Spear & Jackson Specifications: Maximum cut: 20mm (3/4") diameter Overall length: 200mm (8") Blade size: 60mm (2 3/8")
