The Kew Gardens Compact Ratchet Anvil Secateurs are professional-grade pruning tools designed for precise cutting of branches and stems. Developed through collaboration between Spear & Jackson and the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, these secateurs combine horticultural expertise with British manufacturing heritage to deliver reliable performance for gardening professionals and enthusiasts alike. These anvil secateurs feature a knife-like cutting action that minimises stem twisting, ensuring clean cuts that promote healthy plant growth. The integrated ratchet mechanism divides each cut into four short steps, significantly reducing the hand strength required when tackling harder, thicker branches. This makes them particularly suitable for extended pruning sessions or users who need additional mechanical advantage. The compact 180mm design makes these secateurs ideal for smaller hands whilst remaining robust enough for demanding garden maintenance work. High carbon steel blades provide lasting sharpness and strength, whilst the metal anvils ensure optimum durability under regular use. The lightweight cast aluminium construction keeps fatigue to a minimum, and non-slip soft grips deliver increased comfort during prolonged cutting tasks.
