Bought these to replace Eve thermostats - these seem much better - quieter and much easier to set up. Pairing the second one was a little tricky but there was online help. An excellent product
Expensive but effective. You need Hive hub or it will nit work
Perfect addition to my Hive, gives me better control of the heating my rooms.
Can switch off room heating when the area is not used saving the cost of heating it.
We had Hive zones for upstairs, downstairs and hot water. We had standard TRVs on all radiators.
The zones were very easy to control well except that for downstairs to be heated all day, the sitting room that we only use in the evenings was extravagantly hot all day too.
We fitted Hive smart TRVs to the two sitting room radiators.
The fitting took about one minute for each valve, without the slightest hitch or difficulty. Removing the old TRV heads and fitting the Hives was actually quicker and easier than opening the packaging.
The new TRVs appeared immediately on the App as new programmable zones with the useful option to combine them to work as a single zone which I called "Sitting Room".
The on-line instructions said that the new valves could take up to 24 hours to "self calibrate".
The first evening the temperatures were one or two degrees out, but they were correct by the second evening and have been ever since (magic?).
Our sitting room radiators are plumbed in to our downstairs central heating circuit (zone). So fairly obviously they can only heat to their programmed temperatures when there is hot water in the pipes to them.
At first sight this might suggest that our sitting room radiators could not be heated when the rest of the downstairs zone is not being heated (ie no hot water in the pipes).
BUT, there is an option in the App to allow the radiator valves to turn on the downstairs zone if they need heat. It works perfectly, at least for us.
Toolstation prices for these Hive smart TRVs was the lowest that I saw anywhere as well as being from a place that I find reliable and helpful.
These valves are "available for collection next day". I ordered on a Saturday and opted for free delivery. They arrived the next morning (Sunday).
Easy to install on all my 20yr old radiators. That includes connecting to the app, which is very convenient to use
Very easy to set up, now can have each room at a set temp, and can turn the boiler on by room as well
Does what it says on the tin. Best head I've ever had.
The Hive app sometimes tells me the TRV is not functionin properly but it is not clear why.
Then it goes back to normal.
Also the installation procedure is a bit fiddly and I could not easily find the instructions on how to remove the TRV for inspecting the radiator valve.
It would be good to set a temp offset manually to calibrate the TRV to the room temp
Simple to install and worked straight out of the box. Units self calibrate so no messing around with settings and adjustments as it sorts that out for you. Was easy to add them to the Hive app as it gave you all the instructions. Too early to talk about reliability but they seem to keep a good link.
I have now fitted these Hive thermostats to all my radiators (11 in all). With a Hive controller this allows each room to be given a maximum temperature so unused bedrooms can be held exactly to a lower temperature than living rooms, kitchen, bathroom and hallways. The timer control shifts the desired temperature in each area around as you use different parts of the house throughout the day
I was hesitant to buy this product due to bad reviews. I bought 1 to test and it was really good. Now I have 5 in total and they all work well. Easy to control temperature room per room on hive app.
Good item and easy to install no fuzz to fit also didnt need any tradesman to fit just easy and straight forward to install
Very very slow to respond permanently asks to be calibrated even though already calibrated plus does not turn heating on when asked to you have to manually turn stat up to call for heat too 👎🏻
After reading a lot of negative reviews about hive products I was a bit dubious with buying the TRV heads, however after fitment and 2 days of setting up they have worked flawlessly for me, everything that I expected of this system, from what I see they need to be set up properly in the first instance, from then on all is good.
So far so good. Easy install and works well but the main thing, it's saving me a fortune from these evil corporator
Lack of instructions. I Poor and almost impossible to set up. Considering the price it should be better, so it’s been a struggle
