I used a large plastic storage box under my water butt tap. Filled the box, put the pump in, connected to 30 mtr hose, and turned it on, left water butt tap open. Transferred 200 lts from Waterbutt to two 100 ltr tanks. As the 200 ltr tank was draining, pump went on and off as flow rate was reduced. Left pump in box and moved to store. It was not a speedy job but did exactly what I wanted.
This is the second of these’d pumps I have bought as they provide good pressure and are resilient.
It would have been 5 stars but the delivery tube is too short to get to the bottom of a normal 220 litre butt.
I lengthens the tube by adding in 6” of 22 mm copper tube and copper to iron fittings and now it sits just off the bottom of the butt.
We use for watering the garden abdbid say it delivers about 1/3 of our 3bar mains pressure so a little slower but unless your in a hurry it makes no odds.
We run it off a remote control plug and keep the control by the hose so you just click ‘on’ and go. It’s quite happy still running when you turn the hose nozzle off to move around the garden. The pump just carry’s on running, if you don’t turn it off, with no detrimental effect. I even forgot to turn it off for a few hours and it’s still fine.
Great pump, set it up in my water butt with no effort, works well filling my other butts.
Good pump for cleaning out ponds or pumping from water butts to storage or garden plants or othe uses will pump down a 50m hose
We use it for pumping out our bath water, either on to the garden or from the bath to the water butt, works well. Takes some 20 minutes to empty our average depth bath. If you want a quicker empty, use the other 400watt clean water pump and a bigger pipe (as we do sometimes), empties the bath in 45seconds.
Decent price point, decent performance, easy to use.
Fantastic pump with the added bonus of a regular hose attachment. Used for draining a bestway pool attached to sprinkler so the water was not wasted. Also filled up water butts. It’s about a fast as a tap flow, but perfect for standard hose attachments. Don’t be put off by weird plastic elbow. It doesn’t need to hang. Just put the whole lot, with hose into the water or water butt. Or you can just take it off altogether. For the price I paid l, thirty pounds, this was an absolute bargain.
Works ok but not that powerful, a lot less than tap pressure.
A very handy appliance which makes utilsing the rainwater easier .
This pump is useless unless you have a very small waterbutt. The elbow at the top of the discharge tube does not reach the top of a normal 210 litre waterbutt so the pump is not fit for purpose.
So far it works very well supplying water from a butt to a hose with a spray attachment to water the garden, controlled (on/off) using a smart socket. My only criticism is the aluminium discharge tube should be much longer so that the pump can reach nearer the bottom of the water butt. It only drains 60% of the water butt at present. Reasonably priced though.
Bought as a replacement for a Draper unit that had failed and is now obsolete. The Hawksmoor Water Butt Pump was available at a comparable price and was simple to install. It came with plenty of cable. The hose connector is a bit fussy but after trying several that I already had all was well. Early days but seems reliable and quiet.
This pump is NOT capable to fit a 100L water butt , it’s too small.
Searched for IBC pumps and this came up asked when I picked it up if it fits in an IBC tank and was told "that is what it is for" but it turns out it doesn't fit in an IBC tank. Also very slow to pump the water. Not worth the cost.
Exactly as described,Far easier than using watering cans.very pleased
Purchased this inexpensive water butt pump for my ageing father in law after watching him walking back and forth with his watering can watering his many many garden plants, I have got to say he is completely over joyed with his pump he can now do a job that took 45 mins in 10 minutes without carrying a heavy watering can! I really have earned an awful lot of brownie points so it a win win
Product would not work. Non existent customer service. Rude and unhelpful.
