I wanted / needed a long hose, a retractable one was preferable as it is automatic and quick. I liked the design of this one as well as the all the product information and reviews. It is a very well put together hose reel, good quality materials and attractive design. I have used it a few times even though I haven't been able to mount it on a wall or fence yet. The reason? It is too heavy! I hadn't considered how heavy it would be and I cannot move it easily myself. I will get it sorted but will need help to attach it to a wall and then I will need an extension to the hose to reach the far end of the garden.

My garden is about 25m long, and this 30m hose allows me to reach all of the corners. The various settings also allow me to water vigorously but also, if I have the time, more gently and thoughtfully. I would not hesitate to recommend this bright green hole to other keen gardeners, or car washers for that matter.
After a few uses the hose has began to stop automatically recoiling itself firstly by a metre and now two months later 5-6 metres without me helping it out!
Only just got this and not really used it properly. Looks good and works well in trying it out but need to use it for real a number of times to truly make an assessment.

Great bit of kit, cheaper than rivals. Just need to see the longevity of Hawksmoor hose reel.
Auto rewind very hit and miss on the last 2 metres or so. Also the unit leaks from the inside of the reel, this is unable to be tightened up as getting into this area will mean the whole reel will need to be dismantles and likely break the rewind mechanism.
This will be going back to toolstation for a different brand.
When I first got this I thought it was amazing value and well made…. However as time has gone by (and I only use it a couple of times a week) the return spring has weakened and it no longer recoils all the hose without human help!
It’s actually slowly getting worse…. I can’t see that there’s any adjustment I can carry out to reverse this issue either.
Great hose reel bought to replace an expanding one. It has a very strong rewind system and feels like a solid piece of kit. There is no assembly required [unlike other big name products] just the bracket to screw to the wall. There was a small screw left over in the pack which I have no idea what it was for. There was no mention of it in the instructions. The only negative as far as I am concerned is that the spray nozzle could have been a better design. One with a trigger and twist for different spray patterns would have been better.

The hose is excellent for price, as it's half the cost of a mainstream brand. Also its a 30m hose with auto rewind. But it loses a star due to the slightly cheaper plastic construction, but that's worth it at this price.
