It has a thermostat so you can control the temperature using the right hand side tap and to start the shower you use the left hand side. If you turn the left side one way, the main shower head comes on and the other way is for the smaller shower head. It is such a lovely shower and uses less water than other showers, which is like. You don't notice this difference when showering and it cleans as it should. I love it!
