I wanted to replace an old pendant light with a modern 4 way spotllight.
I was stumped when I removed the existing ceiling rose to find 3 sets of wires coming in to the rose.
After some research on the internet I found this is called looped in. In more modern houses the looping in is done at the switch.
I also discovered this connector.
As others have said it is quite large and you will probably have to enlarge the hole in the ceiling, but it will be covered by the new ceiling rose.
Check there is enough room to push it up into the ceiling void.
There was enough cable to pull through a bit, and wiring to the main block was relatively straightforward.
The new light fitting is connected to the smaller block which pushes into the main block.
Any future change of light fitting is then just a simple matter of unplugging and swapping the light fitting.
The connector was very useful to get over the problem of having to fit a new ceiling light where previously there was a pendant light and ceiling rose with 'loop-in' wiring. It has good sized screw terminals (not push-fit as in the description, but much more secure in my opinion) and an extra terminal on the wiring side for the loop in connection.
The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because there is no cable strain relief on the wiring (male) connector side and it can be a bit bulky for some scenarios.
Bought to connect an illuminated mirror to a bare wire rather than use chocblocks so that connect and disconnect is easier. Fits neatly behind frame as it is slim. Easy to wire up with sturdy connectors. Plug latch seems adequate for the job. A bit large for this use case, it would be nice if there was a smaller three pin version without the loop connector and for lighting T&E cable, but this one works well for me.
Ordered these lighting connectors for a job. Next day collection took 4 days! No good to me. Could have made them myself in that time!
Very pleased with this connecter. The price was cheaper than at a nearby retailer & the quality is good. Easy to connect up. Would definitely recommend it.
Ideal connector for feeding a cable via the letterbox as a plug wouldn't fit so a great solution
Well designed and easy to connect. The plug is well insulated.
Good handy product at a competitive price in a convenient location
Great but this version has screw terminals not push clip
it was bigger than I expected from the website picture, but it does what I wanted - a quick and reliable disconnect and connect for my motorcycle battery charger
Great for connecting downlights, and low powered accessories
Excellent product for electric connections in caravan or motorhome
Great product easy to connect and isolate for latter replacement, staff at Southwick branch friendly and helpful.
Ideal product for what I needed it for, simple design, easily available and a reasonable price. Would certainly buy again.
Great product, easy to use, ideal for changeover of lights. I use these on downlighters, so we can remove and repkace with a standard cap bulb for decorating / painting the ceiling.
Within 20 minutes of realising that I needed the connector I was walking out of the Kirkcaldy branch with it. Easy to order, pay for and collect. (I live 10 minutes away!) Good product at a good price.
Added to both the family cars to provide a low level maintenance charger connection while cars in the garage and not being used regularly.
Ok for the money. There are better connectors out there.
I use these when installing down lighters in our bungalow. Essentially they enable me to do all the wiring sitting on the sofa and only go into the attic to connect up. They are a little bulky but make a fiddly and often uncomfortable job much easier.
Excellent device for distributing and connecting/disconnecting cable.
