Item previously used! Paint on reverse, white marks on back of theremostat, marker pen letters on box with plot number, security tag already cut and box celloptaped up but half security tag on one side and other half on opposite, random 'kitchen' sticker on box to name a few!
Looked into many different options when looking for a thermostat and this one beat all the othered hands down. So easy to use even looks nice. The nest app is great as well makes using the thermostat quick and easy. It even provides useful monthly usage reports so you can track how much you have used it.

Bought a nest thermostat, thinking it was new. Paid to have it installed, but it didn't work as it couldn't see any wifi signal at all in an area of very crouded WiFi signals. Call to the manufacturer helpline and the tech support who told us that this particular thermostat was indeed faulty but also to our surprise wasn't new and it was turned on 3 years earlier and was therfore out of warranty and udef. They kindly swapped it for a replacement one, which they didn't have to do which was excellent customer service. Called tool station to let them know. Nothing but appologies and excuses. We went to the toolstation because it's a big retailer and thought it would give confidence in such a purchase but sadly not.
The working replacement from the manufacturer was excellent so far worked flawlessly, and for certain it's a great product. But not the first one which was sold as new when it was in fact used

Replaced a traditional thermostat. Relatively easy but you need to understand what type of heating system and boiler you have. Comes in two parts - the thermostat for the room and a switch box that’s best place near the boiler. The switch box will control one motorised valve for heating and one for hot water. If you have a multi zone system you need multiple nest thermostats and switch boxes. The set up is ok but tedious as you have to rotate the dial to select each letter/number of your password for example. The software is fairly straightforward on an iPhone. For the heating you set the temperature and time of day for each time you want it to change. You can copy settings from one day to the next. The hot water is annoyingly different in that you set the duration it is on. You still need your existing, separate stat on the tank or boiler to control the hot water temperature.
Once installed it is easy to manage remotely via a phone or computer.
Found the learning system did not cope well with our lifestyle so we’re just using it as a “traditional” timer and temperature control system but with remote access

Easy enough set up yourself. Great bit of kit for the house.
Easy to install and set up. However for this price you would expect a mini usb(?) cable to be included in the box. It doesn’t state on the outer box that you need a cable to complete the installation. It’s only when you’ve unpacked all the components and read the instructions do you realise what’s missing.
They’ve obviously tried for an “Apple” level of packaging.
After much research on the best smart thermostat, we decided that the Nest one best suits our needs & it comes with great reviews & personal recommendations from friends. Not installed yet as waiting for our electrician who is doing another job soon. Great Black Friday deal on price from Toolstation.
must have for hearing and hot water for any gadget lover, i have tried alternatives but this is the best.

Probably the best smart thermostat avaliable even though it has remained unchanged for years. The new 4th gen model is not destined to arrive in the UK in the near future.
These are rubbish, stay away. In 6 years we have gone through two thermostats (one replaced under warranty) and one faulty heatlink. Really disappointed by Google as we have Nest CCTV and it's great but there thermostats are just very poor.
