This has worked perfectly for what we wanted and the battery life has been superb - so far
Easy install, app easy to download. Good battery life
Good product comes with everything it needs, notifications can be a pain to setup sometimes.
I was a little sceptical after reading some other reviews, but no need as it works perfectly. Set up was a doddle as I was adding this to complete the set. Nest door bell, Nest floodlight cam and indoor cam. Previously had Ring products, but the image quality is significantly better with Nest
Seems an easy camera to set up, although not compatible with the Nest app, as it says. The Google Home app is not yet as efficient as the Nest App. The mains lead is an additional cost of over £20
Only been using it a week or so and it works great for giving me notifications if a car or anyone comes on the drive . Fitting is a 10 min job and the battery life is predicted to be around 7 weeks. Will be getting some more.
Great camera, good quality picture and very esy to set up. If you want a 30day recording then there is a subscription.
Night vision is good and effective adjustable detection zone
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Nest cam is a great device for an OK price. As it is a Google nest device, it is really well integrated with the other nest devices - I have a hub with the 7" screen and this allows me to use the hub as a monitoring device. The device itself is well made, and well packaged and very easy to set up. It took me a few minutes to get it going, then another 15 minutes or so to attach to our rear wall. No issues with the weatherproofing - it has been rained on, along with heavy storms.
I like the notifications to your phone when the camera sees someone, although in order to make use of this you really need a subscription to allow you to review the content for a longer period of time. This is an extra 5 quid a month but does allow you to add as many devices as you like within that price.
The only real issue I have had is random wifi dropouts which get sent as notifications. My wifi is rock solid throughout the house and garden and I don't have this issue with any other devices. Maybe there is some server side issue which means the camera can't talk back properly, who knows.
All in all I am very please with the Camera and may well add others in the future
Battery lasted less than a week. It doesn’t work with the nest app which is crazy when you are trying to keep all other products together -you have to use a google app. There are no alerts on the google app either
Will be returning this week
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm a single girl living on her own and wanted something easy to install to up the security in my home. As I'm not very tech savvy and din't want to pay for expensive installation I found the google nest really met my needs. It's wireless, powered by battery, but there is an option of connecting to a power source. I went for the easier battery option. The size (roughly the size of a soup can) makes it quite discreet and I positioned it above my front door. I already have the google home app and found the device easy to add to this. There are a large range of settings which allows you to monitor battery level, configure the motion and sound notifications, and has a night vision option. I think the whole set up took me under an hour. I adjusted the settings after a week as it was quite sensitive but now works really well for me. It really does make me feel safer in my own home and while I'm away from home!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Using the nest cam at the moment. Decided to use inside as its battery operated and more convenient to set up and change the batteries inside without having to keep getting up on a ladder ! Having said that it’s working well without replacement batteries this past 2 months. Quality of pictures are good.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Having already got several wireless battery driven security cameras on my property, i was looking for one to cover the front door entrance, and this seemed to fit the bill. Google branded so obviously good quality and wireless battery driven, so should be easy to install.
So the first thing to note is that because it is indoor AND outdoor it is mounted using a very strong magnet that fixes the main camera to the base. Now this is all well and good indoors but outdoors there is the chance that it could be just pulled off the mount and be taken, so in order to try and minimise this risk, it has to be mounted high enough to not be able to reach without any steps etc.
Once mounted, it was fairly easy to setup and there is the option of viewing historical events but this is where it starts to fail in my opinion as you have to subscribe to the Nest Aware in order to view at least 30 days history, otherwise you only get three hours, and there is no option to install a memory card to enable any more history, whereas my other cameras have a memory card slot that will store as much as they can record so at least 30 days if not months worth of recordings.
Also, because the camera has to be located higher up, this then makes the facial recognition much worse because of the angle of sight of the camera, so again a bit of a let down as this is the main feature that is pushed for the camera.
The quality of the video / sound is actually very good and the speed of activation is almost instant, so again this is good.
So i'd say if you live in a relatively trouble free area then lowering the camera down may help the image recognition otherwise it won't be of much use unless everyone looks up at the camera when visiting.
Again, you would assume from the hefty price of one of these cameras, some of the features that are lacking would have been present as they are on much better priced cameras
All in all, a decent camera BUT lacking in quite a few features for the price
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just unboxed my new Google Nest Cam and what a great price of kit it is. Really easy to install and set up with my Google network at home. One thing I did notice was how strong the magnet is in the mounting plate. Took 5 mins to install and set up. Even works 50ft away at my garage door. Integration with other smart home products is a doddle. 100% recommend
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This camera has a very good picture quality, it was quite hard to install and was quite confusing. It has a great motion sensor which sends a notification on your phone everyone someone walks past the camera which is very good however I have seen the neighbours cat quite a few times now! The microphone isn't very good it echos and isn't that loud. Its great that its wireless and chargable, Security wise its does the job but needs a few tweaks!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] so easy to install and set up the google home app even for a beginner with the step by step instructions. smart looking, high quality and decent coverage/image. the camera offers 24/7 live streaming with night vision which picks up any movement and alerts you via your mobile phone. the magnetic mount is very strong and sturdy and keeps the camera in place. battery took a few hours to charge and lasts very well, uses around 1-2% per day
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This camera is great! We decided to use it on the outside of our house, the cam was placed with ease and uses a magnet to attach. The picture is very clear and the camera connects to an app which you can use on your phone. The app is really easy to use and navigate around. You get notifications when there is movement picked up on the camera, we have cats and I’ve found that it doesn’t notify if they’re around which is great. The product is really sturdy and waterproof.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I found this product really easy to install especially with the QR Code and link to the other equipment I have on my home wifi. It picks up wifi signal well even when not installed close to wifi modem box.
I found it to be a very good quality camera recording footage at high definition. The powerful magnets made it really easy to install but unfortunately also means that if you live in a high crime area and someone is “fully masked up”, the camera may become vulnerable to theft as it can be easily removed with a bit of force as only secured to base by magnetic force. This can be rectified by installing it high up and out of reach or simply installing inside the premises. The other thing of concern was reflection you get at night from the powerful infra red (great to see in the dark and makes image great) but if you keep you camera inside pointing out recording through double glazed window it basically doesn’t work well and all you see is a reflection of the camera in the window when viewing footage. But this can easily be rectified by installing it in different location.
The cable in the box is not massively long so be aware of how close you need it to be to a power socket or you will need to have an extension cable or purchase a longer power lead if you want it on power all the time so no need to keep removing it to recharge.
The Google home app works really well with camera and you are immediately notified of activations of someone is in the camera shot.
Great product, would buy an additional camera for front garden and recommend to friends due to how easy it is to install and run.
