I bought this to replace a one year old ring latch from another retailer that has rusted badly after 12 months. This one seems very sturdy and well galvanized. The only downside is that the ring is quite stiff meaning that the latch doesn't just drop into place. I'm hoping this will loosen up with use.

Wanted a nice latch to go on a newly built gate. The marine grade stainless steel latches are quite expensive and a cheaper latch I ordered was a bit rough around the edges with the galvanised finish starting to peel. This Gatemate latch was reasonable quality, built from thick metal that won't bend and works well. Pleased with the result and value for money.

Great value, feels better than I personally would expect for a product in this price range, I can't imagine the pricier ones being significantly better... it is solid, feels heavy duty, and seems perfectly at home handling the very heavy gate I have used it on... I suspect it will last longer than the rest of the gate!
