Ordered to fix it under my coffee machine request by Thames Water regulation.
After stripping out the old pipe work from the stopcock (mostly about 75 years old) I realised the old brass check valve was in a poor state and needed something quick, this was in-stock and did the job. For the first week it seemed ok but after that it began to make a fairly high pitched noise as the tank demanded water. It starts as a lower pitched noise building as the water passes through it until it’s at full flow when it gets higher, as soon as the demand lowers, so does the noise. It’s in a cupboard and to be honest a bit annoying as it resonates through the pipe work into other areas (on suite etc) but I am probably the only one it annoys! The unit itself is easy to fit and externally good but if it continues I will source a better quality one and replace it, all that said it was a cheap and available solution on the day, can’t fault the stall locally very good service and good stock to get you out of trouble!
Used on a line out to the greenhouse. Prevents water returning to the house which is important, especially so in winter months when this leg will be stood.
Ideal for stopping the water running the wrong way.
