Did exactly what I wanted, strong secure fixing, been up for a while now, and no movement on bracket, which is under strain and subject to wind and rain. What more can you ask for?

Since I first discovered these, I have used no other - well, different sizes of Fischer plugs. They hold well and behave better than any other plug I have every used. A little more expensive, but nothing compared with the value of getting the job done right.

It's a plug, drilled a 14mm hole tapped 14mm plug in. Surprise Surprise it worked.

You get what you pay for, and these plugs are superior quality and worth a bit extra for the fit and grip they have. I have used cheap plugs in the past, but these are so much better and don't spin in the hole, or pull out under tension.
I always buy these, so much better than everything else on the market, you can even reuse them as they’re extremely tough. Work well in both brick and plasterboard with excellent grip, just make sure the screw being used is long enough to reach the bottom of the plug to pull it tight.
