The items were a replacement for end of life units. They fitted the base plates of the old units so were very quick and easy to install.

Bought to replace 2 earlier Fire Angel alarms which require 9 bolt battery replacement every sp often. The best thing about the new alarms is that they share the same fixing plate so that the new ones fit as a direct replacement.....this is not shared on the instructions but saves a lot of faff and making good.
Surprisingly the first of the two alarms was faulty having a mind of its own and went off all by itself.This was changed at toolstation the following day
One I bought a year ago has packed in. There is a longer guarantee but the return process is hideous and very complicated so I decided to bite the bullet and bin it and buy two more.
Press the test button: the alarm goes off. Perfect.
I removed the old fireangel smoke alarm from its baseplate and thought I would see if this one would fit. It slotted into place perfectly.... However, when tested it didn't work. Tested the other one and of course it needs to be installed on the correct baseplate to work. So tried to remove it from the old baseplate and no joy. Wouldn't budge. Had to pull the new alarm out of the ceiling with the old baseplate still attached. Then fitted one of the new baseplates and the other new smoke alarm. I was going to replace both smoke alarms for the tenants but in the end only replaced one. Took it home and had to break the old baseplate into several pieces to get it off. The world would be a better place if you could just take the old one off and put the new one on.... wouldn't it Fireangel?!!
This smoke alarm replaced an older model, it fitted straight into the baseplate on our ceiling. The quieter test sound is a welcome improvement, no more ringing ears when testing.
Got at a discount for under £18. Bargain I thought!
The fireangel smoke alarms were originally recommended by our local fire service and they actually came round and suggested where to site them. I purchased replacements from Toolstation for a couple which the batteries were running down after being installed about 8 years ago. Infact Fireangel will replace for free if they fail before the 10 year warranty is up. Unfortunately I couldn’t find the original receipt so purchased these replacements. I would recommend writing on the alarm where and when you bought them, just in case. Good value and easy to fit

Twin pack good value. Easy to install - cannot comment about effectiveness as yet!
Remember - do not put this type in the kitchen.
Very easy to fit, just two wood screws, supplied, each.
The 10 year battery is very convenient and does away with regular changing of the 9v battery the cost of which over 10 years almost covers the cost of the alarm.
