Great saw used it for laminated flooring made the job very easy
Semi retired carpenter requiring replacement for worn out 25 year old Makita. Out of the box needed a bit of fine tuning and assembly. Happy with quality and versatility. Compact and lightweight. Dust extraction not the best, but overall pleased with purchase
My first mitre saw - bought to use in the construction of some campervan furniture.
I don't have a garage or workshop - so needed something reasonably compact to make storage easy -
- Fairly Easy to set up - I found the instructions poor - having never used one of these before - but it's basically pretty logical to work out yourself
- Easy and Quick to screw down onto a workmate for stability
- Light enough to move around - built in carry handle is very useful
- Sliding function is great for wider boards.
- Central handle and trigger is comfortable and ergonomic.
- Pretty compact when folded
So far I'm primarily cutting oak (18x38mm)
- Blade is decent giving a clean cut on the front and bottom face with minimal tear out on the opposing faces.
- Ends nice and smooth
- A quick rub with a sanding block fixes this - but I'd look for a wood specific blade if I was cutting lots of timber with a fine finish needed.
Vertical and horizontal square was spot on straight from the box - 45 degree mitres are exact.
I practiced using some softwood offcuts - cuts like a hot knife through butter - slightly more tear out than hard wood - but not much..
Build quality
Lots of Moulded plastic - but seems strong enough - and is a good compromise between strength and weight - especially at the price point
If you need a reasonably portable mitre saw that cuts accurately - I'd highly recommend
Highly pleased with this product the smoothnes of the cut its light weight easly portable a must buy
Found the saw, light & compact, but very robust & easy to use, done everything I needed it to
Can't fault it for smaller jobs. Light to move about and cuts are pretty good.
The first was faulty, but Toolstation replaced it no quibble. I've used this saw for cutting my deck subframe and other lumber. It's pretty good, but I'd say it has the following shortcomings:
The laser alignment is off, can't be used to gauge where the cut will be, and in fact blinds your eyes when trying to align the saw teeth with your pencil mark.
The angle needle is fat, so it's hard to know when you're exactly on, say, 45 degrees. I've learned that I need to put the middle of the needle on the exact graticule.
The bed is small so I've found that larger pieces of wood aren't sitting so well, but I've managed.
The included dust collection bag is pointless - sawdust doesn't exit through the dust port at the back, it actually just flies absolutely everywhere. I think you'd need a vacuum connection for that to work.
The included clamp is a bit fiddly, but kind of works. A few times though it's left marks in my lumber.
Overall I'm still happy with it. The included disc is ok, it seems fairly rigid on the sliders, and it's easy to operate.
I bought R185SMS+ 185mm along with a diamond blade, a couple of weeks ago to work on brick paving. The machine is great and very precise. I recommend Evolution R185SMS+ 185mm
So far so good but haven't used it yet. But I am sure it will work ok.
