Avoiding the scientific arguments of what is better clay versus plastic, I'll leave that for the geologists and physicists of the Building Research Establishment, for small scale domestic deployment by SME tradesmen Plastic is cheaper and easier to work with being lighter and less prone to damage in transit or fitting. That out if the way onto this particular product,it fits those criteria and is inexpensive compared to other brands or from other vendors. Much is made of the Victorian sewer system and the quality of its engineering if they had had plastic they would have been fitting these. Given the Eco mob keep telling us it takes a plastic bag 1000 years to degrade in landfill and these are a bit thicker I reckon they're good till armageddon.

Great price for a quality fitting
Bought various fittings and some were very loose others did not slip home fully and would not pull free. The rubbers on the fittings are very small so maybe can't accept manufacturing tolerances.
I used various lubricants but all similar,
out standing sort matter out well fit out and no leak
