Replacement for my old RTS1 that provided many years of service
I bought this as a direct replacement for the one I had which, as it turns out, wasn’t the reason that my heating wouldn’t come on. It was very reasonably priced and it was ready for collection the same day so full marks to Toolstation for that. Just be aware if you’re buying one of these that there is at least one other very similar-looking Drayton thermostat for different types of system. The picker in Toolstation had actually put aside the wrong one for me but luckily I noticed before I left the shop.

Does a good job of controlling your central heating.
Bought this as a replacement for a two wire, low voltage system and this is not suitable - it requires mains voltage so I returned it and bought the rts8 version.
Customer had an.older version of this thermostat and a faulty water/heating controller so she asked to have both replaced. Easy to.fit, comes with a new backplate which was also makings for connecting the wires.
Replacing like for like was so simple and quick.
2 screws at the bottom and the old one lifted off, new one slotted right in and heating back up and running.
Good .....easy to instal and works fine. Online purchase/pickup worked well.
Only one local shop stocked this item. I wanted to replace like for like. I didn't want to drill new holes etc. The only problem was that the control knob was very loose compared to the old one. It felt off if not turned carefully!
The Drayton Thermostat is an uncomplicated simple product, well made and easy to fit. It doesn't need power and makes a clean switch acros a changeover rated at 1 ampere. Toolstation had the right product in stock at reasonable price. What is not to like?
I replaced like with like. 21 years after first Drayton thermostat was installed. Lets hope this does a similar good job. Better than digital - K.I.S.S.

I ordered this as a straight replacement for the same model that had gone faulty after several years of reliable service. Unfortunately the dial on the one I collected from Toolstation, which was the only one in stock at the time, is about 2 degrees out (i.e. it has to be set to 20 to be switching on & off at around 18 degrees). So I will have to take it back for a replacement.
