This multipurpose tool acts as a control station for your soldering iron. It uses heat generated by an electrical filament to melt the solder used on electrical joints, so fusing pieces of metal and copper pipes is nice and easy. You can plug your iron straight in and use the controls on the soldering station to adjust the temperature. This electrical tool is compact so you can transport it easily between jobs. Plus, it comes with an integral soldering iron stand. The solder gun has a comfy handgrip and a tip to help you work with precision. The tip is earthed to aid the soldering of static sensitive components. A supplied sponge means you can re-use the tip plenty of times before needing to replace it. This unit is manufactured with an overheat protection device that''s fitted with a manually adjustable heat output dial. • Compact Draper soldering iron station • Variable temperature for heat sensitive components • Earthed tip for soldering static sensitive components • Soldering iron has a replaceable tip • Supplied with soldering iron stand and tip sponge • Overheat protection • Manually adjustable heat output dial • 40W

Brought for a job wiring and terminating LED Tape lights
Lovely piece of kit. Heats up quickly and good solid engineered.
This was exactly what I was after. Ideal for small electronic projects.
Happy with this soldering iron as it has a temperature control and holder which is handy for an auto electric repair.
not top of the range but very good value for general use
Not very durable - soldering head overheated and deformed
Nice basic soldering iron needed urgently easy with click and collect.
Not much good about this iron other than I could pick it up the same day in an emergency. It's slow to heat up, poor temperature control, the tips can't be swapped with heated insert tips, the cable for the iron is really stiff. Cheap manufacture. If I wasn't in such a hurry there are much better options for the same money elsewhere, or you can find the same thing but not branded by Draper for less money too. It does technically work and I got it the same day, great if you're in a hurry but better options exist than this.
Good product. Easy to use. good value for money. Excellent for electronics.
I was mid job when my soldering iron refused to heat above 22°C. Toolstation had one of these available, so I bought it. It certainly worked to finish that job, and still works now. It gets hot, it's easy to clean, and the cables aren't too stiff. It doesn't heat up very quickly though, and a temperature display would be nice.
The three-pin British plug has well-polished pins and slides into the socket well. The plastic cover three-core wire is a tad stiff but gets floppy and more flexible in warmer weather. The tip is well shaped and hot. Avoid too much flux as it can dribble down the shaft and create a mess. It does sit in your hand nicely, just don’t touch the hot tip as it can make you squeal.
Not sure how to use the knob to vary power, should I aim for a temperature if so how to measure.
The Draper is a good soldering station. The tip is on the fine side, ok for PCB soldering but a bit to fine/light for general auto electrical work, it will do it, just is just to slow heating up the thicker wire used in cars.
I don't know if Draper or any other manufacturer can provide broader tip for the iron, if it came with a broader tip say a 2mm chisel type tip as well as the fine point it would have gotten 5 star rating.
Build quality is OK the soldering pencil electric wire is on the thick and stiff side making it a bit cumbersome in use, but maybe I am being a bit critical, after all this is a 30-35 quid item.
Is it worth the money? welllllllllll Yyyyyyyes I think it is.
Longevity of use??? Time will tell.
Good soldering station. Got me out of a hole. Not the most frills but perfect for home DIY.
Seems to struggle to melt the lead free solder unless the iron is held against it for quite a while. Got yhe job done eventually but a bit of a pain.
Very effective soldering iron though would be better if the cables were more flexible
I'm happy with it, good price, much better than the cheaper ones with no temperature control.
Seems to work well and usual draper quality. cant fault it really
Used for very light electrical soldering and it worked well. It only has a fine pointed tip so it wouldn't be very flexible for larger jobs. fine solder needed though which Toolstation didn't have
Ideal for a small job. Doesn’t take too long to heat up. Simple, easy and worth the money.
