The product and the idea is good, I've had one before a long time ago and it used to be made a little more sterdy now it's quite light weight, still does what it's meant to do and is accurate enough.
A very good quality machine for the money. Sturdy and allows for accurate cutting. Very pleased with purchase.
Components such as the workpiece clamp are flimsy. The blade guides are plastic. When tested on a piece of oak with a cross section of 20 by 25 mm, the cut was square but 5 degrees of the vertical. I have returned it.
Not a bad product but not robust and bits started to fall off after a bit of use. Im no joiner, so it was useful in getting me going with angles but doesnt cut consistently so there is often the need to finish off in other ways to straighten them.
It's a good saw, but the Toolstation website info could be clearer about the maximum width and height of workpiece that it can accommodate. The job I had didn't fit in the saw, and I had to make the cut freehand.
Poor quality item not worthy of the Draper name.
The saw came with a broken plastic guide making it inaccurate for cutting. The cast aluminium base plate for your work was rough with sharp burrs. The locking arm is not sprung loaded so you don’t know when it’s engaged in each angle setting.
My last mitre saw lasted 20years and was always accurate. This one is going straight in the bin.
This MITRE saw was disappointing. I wish I'd spent a bit more and bought an electric one. (Toolstatiosn service was 5 star though)
First try at 90⁰ and I got a vertical cut of about 75⁰. Dismantled and reset and the cut was (almost) perfect. A few more adjustments and now OK. I had one of these years ago and I think that the blades are now a lot thinner. So good tension and controlled strokes are needed. I would like the option of thicker blades.
Item had obviously been used and returned as it was broken. Returned again by me, so hopefully will not be sold to another unsuspecting buyer!
Didn’t therefore get to try.
Good piece of kit and does the job for the money it cost
A good mitre saw, cuts mitres very neat and tidy ready for gluing.
