Very poor quality unable to setup the saw blade after 6 hours took it back for a refund
Unfortunately when we got the bandsaw out of the box the saw had come off each time we put it back on and tried to use it it came off again.Retuned to tool station and they were extremely helpful with us , and gave us a full refund as they did not have a replacement in stock
Not used it much yet as still cold out in my shed but so far very useful item, looking forward to summer then I can start using it properly.
To difficult to put together
Blade small & twisted
Instructions completely useless
Taking back for refund
It works fine once you adjust the settings, I’m happy with it.
Good price for domestic/diy projects in the home. Simple to assemble, good quality and easy to use,
A robust and bench stable bandsaw
A good size and weight for easy moving bench to bench.
Tool station don’t sell the blades
This bandsaw is really good value for the money but they main wear out part which are the pulley tyres are not available to buy anywhere in the country as i have been told by Draper uk direct as they are imported from China ! And they do not see any coming in till further notice and there are no other replacements that will fit so i have now got a bandsaw i cant use !!
1st impressions were promising, quite quiet, cut well and blade set up was straight forward but and its a big but the up and down blade guard ceased to work within the first hour of use. This rendered the machine unusable. Returned to Toolstation for a refund. I then bought the Einhell TC-SB200/1 which works really well so far.
Excellent bandsaw for the money. I replaced the blade with a 1/2 inch blade and its been able to rip 45 x 20mm battens of ipe in half accurately giving two 45 x 9mm rips. Ipe is an extremely hard wood to cut and the lengths I put through where 3m long. the 1/4 inch blade suppied was fine for cutting ply shapes but ran off when used for ripping timber.
I always like to provide a detailed review on products I purchase, and I would encourage people to read on if they want a genuine perspective into my experiences with this machine. In short, and for those that don't want an essay, this bandsaw is a great bit of kit BUT be aware that it required around 2 hours of careful setup and fine tuning before use.
Having read the mixed reviews on this machine I was expecting to have to allocate some time for setup and that it wouldn't just be cutting perfectly out of the box. I was not wrong, I just didn't quite realise how much setup and tuning it would require! Upon collection it was evident that I was looking at a previously returned product as the box had been opened and re-sealed. It was re-packaged well enough and everything was present, so no issue there. The instructions are not super clear but they are adequate enough. I set the bandsaw up on my bench top and started adjusting everything to find that the table was slightly miss-aligned between the two sides (it is partially split to accommodate blade changes but held together underneath with a bracket) so this was solved by removing the bracket and bolting it back on moving between the three securing bolts in sequence until all were tight again. I then noticed that there was a metal burr on the edge that the blade surround clips into which would have been in the path of any work passing through.. a quick file-down and small dab of silver paint solved this. Now it was time to adjust the blade tension, tracking and guides.. this was the time consuming bit because I had never done this before. I don't know if a more expensive machine would be easier to setup (or better setup from the start) but you have to find the right balance between blade tension, tracking (that is the camber at which the top wheel sits - too much or too little and the blade will travel in rotation and eventually slip off the wheel), whilst also ensuring that the guides are all accurately spaced from the blade itself. Once you adjust everything and try it, you may need to adjust one of these variable more finely.. which then throws other adjustments off! I enjoy tinkering, so frankly this wasn't a major issue. When it came time for me to adjust the bottom blade guides (ones that sit under the work table) I was somewhat shocked to find that a loose nut was stuck within the guide assembly! Thankfully it was not touching the blade, but this could have been seriously dangerous or at least caused major damage to the machine had I not noticed it. It was at this point that I started stripping much of the blade guide assembly apart, re-greasing and re-assembling for my own peace of mind. I never did find what that nut came from despite very careful inspection, but my suspicion is that it either occurred during the manufacturing process or that the machines previous owner dropped the nut and assumed it to be lost, replacing it for a new one. Once I had pretty much done a full service, the bandsaw honestly felt like a whole new machine. The grinding and scraping noises present when I first switched it on to test it had all gone.. the blade was tracking perfectly, and the quality of cut was superb. As with everything else, you need to spend a little time adjusting the rip fence as well (quite frankly a piece of wood clamped to the table would be better than the fence provided) but with a little tuning again I got it to sit square and provide a stable enough fence.
All in all, I am happy with the purchase because I was fully expecting to have to invest time into setting the unit up. Just be aware that if you want a bandsaw that is already setup accurately and cutting perfect out of the box, you may want to avoid this one! Considering the price however, well you get what you pay for don't you, and this is no exception. This is very much a hobbyist level bandsaw.. it's for light work on small projects.. and for that it works very well!
Very happy good little bandsaw for general hobby work Very pleased.
