To be fair,i bought the sharpening files on a whim, but they are pretty good for getting chisels back into decent shape.if you want to hone them to perfection, you'll need something finer.overall well worth the money.
Excellent piece of kit, does exactly what the doctor ordered, quickly and precisely sharpens chisels and scissors with ease.
Great for touching up or resharpening any sharp edged tool.
Good value for money. I was able to repurpose the packaging to make a holder for the files. They're wide enough for Stanley no 4 plane irons. My only slight gripe is in the product online description which describes the files as course, fine and extra fine. The grits are actually 150, 300 and 400 respectively. I expected the extra fine to be up around 1000 grit but it's not a problem and I would probably have still bought them if the grits had been given. In use they work well. You'll need lapping fluid of some sort and some arrangement to stop them slipping around on the bench but that's true of any sharpener.
Smoothed my jagged secateur edge beautifully.
I bought these a couple of days ago to sharpen some planer blades - what a waste of money! The files themselves are backed with plastic, but they arent flat. There is a high spot of approx 3mm in the middle of the file which means obtaining a uniform sharp edge is pretty much impossible.
Perfect for my chisels. Good price
These work very well if you use them on a solid surface and move the chisel over them after wetting with a drop of water. If you use them like this then the flexibility of them being on a thin bit of backing plastic dosent matter.
These sharpening files are easy to use and effective. A bit of a compromise where they felt too small for some tasks but useful. Need to keep wetted with water.
Have sharpened three chisels so far. You will need a 1000 or 1200 grit to finish the job but you can use wet and dry paper. Good value. Use water or soap solaution as oil may cause it to delaminate.
Work really well, my chisels havn't been this sharp since i bought them
Use these for knives and all tool blades that need sharpening.
Too thin and bendy to work properly. I suppose you get what you pay for!
Bought to freshen up watertstones just the job.
I use these a lot, very good for sharpening, happy with that, BUT, I use WD40 or thin oil / white spirit for lubricant, and that has dissolved the glue holding the sharpening plate to release from the plastic backing, a nuisance & a bit of a disappointment,
Very little effort needed when sharpening blades ect .
easier to use and more durable than oil stones
Bought these before but misplaced them so was a no brainer to replace them
Just rebuilding a wooden boat. I've never sharpend my planer blades before. Just add a splash of water. And sharpen. Watch videos on YouTube. Easy enough. Works a treat. Only used them the once hence mid review for performance
