This product is a very good for trimming grass and softer vegetation. When up against thicker garden vegetation, it does struggle and the cord gets itself wrapped around the stems of plants etc. This is frustrating and takes a while to untangle and get it going again. However once you've figured out that it can't cope with heavy brush, and you use it for grass and verge cutting only, it's very good and does keep going consistently. Normally you only need to use it on the lower speed setting. One other negative is the bump feed on it, it might just be me, but I really can't seem to figure out how this is supposed to work, I end up feeding extra cable by hand.
Not really strong enough. It easily gets the material caught around the head and stops.

Item was the best price i could find. Used the strimmer all around the garden and its an excellent bit of kit. Very quiet and powerful.
This ia quite a heavy product. Considerably heavier than my old petrol strimmer. The bulk of the weight is at the strimmer end (nearest the ground). If I use a low capacity battery (1Ah) to save weight, then the weight is not equally balanced on the centre handle. It is better to use a higher capacity battery (4Ah), which will add to overall weight but mean that it is better balanced. There is no need for a high capacity battery from most applications. I also use a shoulder strap from another product, which I attach using a tie-wrap near the middle handle. The motor is powerful. I use the low speed option for most applications. The variable speed control is good for minimising flying debris. When registering on the DeWalt website, there is no model listed that has this model number; I selected the nearest equivalent.
Only used a handful of times so far but it’s a lot quieter than my petrol one and a lot easier than the electric one , no mess and little noise , folds in half easily and quickly for storing

It broke straight away. Less than 3 minutes, fell apart three times.
Fast delivery, well packaged, just as described. Very pleased with this especially the fact I could purchase it without batteries/charger which I have already.
It’s just’ok’. Can’t put the handle on the shaft where you want it because of the folding mechanism. Probably store it not folded anyway. Power very good and does the job.
Great strimmer, quiet, clean, lightweight and powerful
I wanted a cordless strimmer to get away from dragging monstrous mains leads around the garden. My main uses are to strim the weeds from in between block paving and to tidy up lawn edging. I guess these are non standard uses but I haven’t found anything else that does the job. In comparison to my old mains unit the DeWalt is far heavier, longer, significantly quieter and a much wider cut. It took quite a while to find ways to hold the unit to get it just right. I did try it on long grass and it wizzed through effortlessly. I love the way it folds down, a real space saver.
I have found it impossible to register the tool with DeWalt and receive the free extended warranty. I have plenty of other stuff registered with DeWalt but despite being in regular communication with their customer service I just get an error.
Lightweight and easy to use without a harness. This tool makes strimming an easy, quick no fuss job. An excellent addition to the DeWalt tool collection. Highly recommend

Good value strimmer, does the job, battery life good
I was deciding between this DCMST561 and the older model DCM561 which is cheaper but not as good.
The DCMST561 is a great strimmer - much better than those you can buy for under say £100 which can barely cut grass.
I chose DeWalt as I already have 18V 5Ahr batteries from other DeWalt tools and wanted to reduce the different types of batteries and chargers required.
I found this DeWalt strimmer has a good battery life with a 5Ahr battery - more than 20 mins.
Powerful enough to tackle more than just grass.
Easy to assemble and use, although as others have mentioned, a shoulder strap would have been good.
Neatly folds away with ease for storage and transporting.
Recommend.
