Thin material, not heavy gauge, but does the job for most things internal. I used externally with a rubber gasket and still had to slightly bend the lid back to fully flat so it was actually flat against the gasket to give enough of a splash seal.
Apparently there are "heavy gauge" or even cast steel lids available but probably only at proper electrical wholesalers. Might be worth stocking these, Toolstation. I know I'd happily pay more for a decent heavy gauge metal lid that is flat, especially since plastic lids are significantly more than the metal and wouldn't really be suited if you used one for an outdoor metal box.

Good for when you need lids as they don't always come with boxes
The metal covers fit well and although they feel sturdy once fitted they are very thin and flimsy looking with only a look thin galvanised finish.

I was surprised this product did not include the machine screws required to fasten it into position. I mean, why would you expect to source these separately?

Shame you don't get one of these when you buy the conduit boxes but either way once purchased it is an excellent fit
